Plastic waste continues to be a major problem in the environment. It constitutes a significant portion of the waste found around us, and we must take action to address it. I am encouraged by the steps some countries have taken to limit the use of plastic. For instance, Nigeria has banned the importation and use of styrofoam and other plastic products, which is a commendable move. This is especially impressive given that Nigeria has a population of over 100 million people.

I recently had a presentation on the effect of plastic waste and how best we can reduce its usage.
It has become a routine for us to use certain products every day. However, some of these products are harmful to the environment. During the presentation, I emphasized the importance of reuse. As the 3 waste control principle suggests, we should focus on reducing, reusing, and recycling. Reuse means utilizing an item multiple times instead of treating it as disposable.
As we have started using bottled water more frequently, the plastic bottles are being discarded into the environment as waste after we consume the water. Research has indicated that it will take millions of years for these plastic bottles to decompose.
In order to have a friendly environment, I encourage the group to make sure to Reuse after its original purpose.
There are so many companies that are into buying these products for recycling which has become a business venture for many.

This is a campaign everyone can join.

Sort:

The water bottles are tricky to reuse as drink containers. They are hard to clean of bacterias and the plastic will also begin to release more microplastics when the top surface has worn off. But if the reuse and recycling industry can innovate and do that, your idea may have customers all around the world.

Good presentation. Very important issue.

This is a great campaign that can benefit the environment and people. Thanks for sharing

I hope we can all come to fight this together

Good on Nigeria for banning styrofoam! I wish the US would do that. It's so toxic and doesn't get recycled.
It is true that you rarely see it anymore, but it isn't outright banned. At least many businesses try and use alternatives now probably because customers demanded it.
