This is my entry for #monomad challenge by @monochromes
I lived five years in Genoa, some decades ago.
I love this city, in particular how ancient and modern architecture are linked.
Here a symbol of this wonderful city, the famous lighthouse, the highest lighthouse of Italy and the most ancient (still active) in Europe (it has been rebuilt the nowaday version in 1543).
I love, in this shot, how old and new are merged together:
(@victorbz style ;-) )
I photographed the lighthouse reflected into one of the highest skyscraper of the city, symbol of new economic center (where I worked for some months).
Genoa was an "Maritime Republics" in middle-age, together with Venice, Pisa and Amalfi. It is called 'La Superba' (The Superb), and its symbol is the Saint George's Cross (red cross in white background).
I love also the color version, taken another day with other weather and light condition:
Here a jump into 17th-century century: a perfect replica of a Spanish galleon (by David Cannell), located in Genoa harbor:
Pictures taken in september 2002, with analogic reflex Yashica FX-3, with color slide, scanned (and two of them converted in black&white).
