New Vanda Orchid Blooms and New Silver
This past week brought a delightful blend of beauty and treasure into our lives—just in time for the Thanksgiving season.
A Rewarding Bloom
After years of patient care .. Our Vanda Orchid finally decided to grace us with its splendor. On the day before Thanksgiving, four exquisite purple-blue flowers unfurled, a sight we’ve been hoping to see for so long. This orchid has been with us for a few years, and there were moments I wondered if we were giving her what she needed. Clearly, she’s been thriving, waiting for the perfect time to reward our patience. The vivid blooms are a reminder of how perseverance, coupled with a little love and care, can lead to something extraordinary.
Standing near the window, where she catches just the right light, the Vanda now steals the show. Her delicate flowers seem to glow, adding a touch of tropical elegance to the cooler season.
Adding to the Silver Stack
Thanksgiving wasn’t just about turkey and orchids .. This year it was also about silver. I’ve added 1.7754 ounces of silver to the stack with a recent eBay auction win. The haul includes:
3 -- Pre-1964 90% Silver Half Dollars = .3617 X 3 = 1.0851oz of silver
3 -- Pre-1964 90% Silver Quarters = .1808 X 3 = .5424oz of silver
1 -- 40% Silver Half Dollar (1966) = .1479 X 1 = .1479oz of silver
At today’s silver price, this batch equates to about $55.65 in value .. And the best part? I managed to snag it below spot price with free shipping! These additions aren’t just about stacking silver; they’re tied to my ongoing quest to complete a 1946–1959 silver quarter collection. Even though these coins didn't end up fitting into my quarter collection, I’m still just four quarters away from finishing the set. Soon enough I'm sure.
There’s something so satisfying about finding hidden (or not so hidden) treasures like these .. Whether it’s bidding successfully or simply holding these beautifully aged coins. Each one has its own story and a little bit of history that connects it to a bygone era.
Thanksgiving Adventures with Mr. Huxley
The long weekend also marked a milestone for Mr. Huxley.. We spent Thanksgiving with family in Lancaster, PA, and Huxley quickly became the star of the gathering. He charmed everyone with his sweet personality, soaked up all the attention from Mommy and Daddy, and even got to enjoy his first taste of turkey. Between football games, the warmth of the fireplace, and a sprinkle of snowflakes .. Huxley's First! .. He had a holiday full of new experiences and cozy moments.
It’s heartwarming to see how much joy this little pup brings wherever he goes. Watching him play, relax, and share in the family’s love feels like the perfect reminder of what the season is all about.
As we transition from Thanksgiving into the Christmas season, the orchid blooms, silver finds, and Huxley’s ever-growing curiosity serve as beautiful reminders of how gratitude and patience often lead to the most unexpected joys.
