Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder or so the saying goes but is that actually true or is it some mumbo jumbo phrase to make someone feel good. Sincerely, there are times when I don't feel beautiful or good enough and it is not because my make up was applied wrongly or my hairdo was not on point, nor is it because I woke uo on the wrong side of my bed. No, rather it is a feeling that stems from the mind caused by immense pressure on the mind.
You all don't need me to tell you about the dwindling economy, the high cost of living these days and all the other stuffs that can make one go crazy. This is where statemnts like "not by power nor by might" come to mind because even those who claim to be strong are receiving it hot 🔥.
The mind is a very powerful psychological organ that can shapen a person's mental and emotional state. For those times when I awaken to sad thoughts or anxious thoughts, the day's activities for me are not going to be enjoyed because my emotional state will just be scattered here and there. Sometimes, It even leads to transfer of aggression.
Knowing this fact, I put in systems in place that would help me overcome such dreadful thoughts whenever they creep into my mind. One of the systems is positive affirmative confessions. I wrote down some affirmations and say them to myself daily. It could be in front of a mirror or just me in my closet, talking to myself. With this, my mind has no choice but to think towards the lines of my words.
Another cool sysytem I set up is to listen to uplifting music very early in the morning before I step out if the house or listen to any heart breaking, breaking news. I usually wake up as early as 5a.m to start preparing myself for work. At that timw, I dind that the weather is cool and very suitable for uplifting songs to sink into my mind and that is exactly what I do.
Using a bluetooth headphone, I listen to the songs on my playlist specifically for this purpose and by the time I am done, there's nothing in the world that would come at me that I won't be able to tackle head on. I have now learnt to upturn the tide of my mind when it is going awry and get it to understand that I am doing fine. I don't allow what I cannot control get to me rather I send it to those who can handle it or I seek external help afterall no man is an island.
Today I simply want to lend a shoulder to anyone who os feeling like they are not "beautiful", "worthy" or "good enough". Listen, you are doing great. Don't beat yourself up rather upturn the tides of your mind and don't let the pressure sink in . You've got this!
