Hello @hivepets community, I introduce myself, my name is Beda de González, I am and live in Ciudad Bolívar, Venezuela and I have had several kittens in my care since they were little that my daughters have adopted, plus my own, this one you see here is one of the oldest, one year and 6 months: Orange.
This story is very beautiful and I want to share it with you. I have never liked cats. I was afraid of them, because when I was very little, in the field where I lived with my parents, a wild cat came in and bit and scratched me. On the other hand, my parents never had pets.
As an adult I only had dogs to take care of the house, they were provided with food, a veterinarian and affection, but they did not sleep inside the house. Until "walkot" arrived, who I will tell you about later, this dog touched our hearts so much that he laid the first seed.
A few years ago, in the middle of a pandemic to be exact, one of my daughters adopted a cat. I warned him about a lot of things that I had been told all my life. She replied "but how do you know all that if you've never had a cat?" And in fact to this day she sensitized us and continues to educate us about these wonderful little beings.
She started listening to Podcasts and sharing them, clarifying our doubts, reading books, etc. In that process "Matilda" a little cat "Vaquita" that always surrounded me at home, we started giving her food and water, at first she was scared, but over the years she has become the protector of our home, she chose us and makes Less than a year ago I adopted "manchita", the only survivor of a litter of 3 kittens she had.
Meanwhile we are getting together to sterilize everyone, Orange is already sterilized.
Every time my daughter travels, she leaves her cats in our care, she doesn't trust anyone else. And I am very happy to see how my grandson and great-grandson are growing up loving animals.
These are "indoor" kittens, therefore they have beds, special dishes, they eat a specific food etc 😅, in that sense my son-in-law is a very animal lover and loves to support, likewise my daughter does not spend more than 3 maximum 4 days out.
At first he was a nervous wreck, calling them all the time, but it's been a year and a half since we told him to leave them with us and not in a daycare.
"Orange" is one of my favorites because he is a sweetheart, calm, passive, nothing disturbs him, affectionate, eater and sleepyhead, he is the older brother always attentive to his other brothers, licking them and playing with them. Today I feel like I was pulled out of a pit of ignorance.
Thanks for reading, see you soon!
