If you're a fan of anime then you probably know both these animations. They feature over the top and to put it lightly, exaggerated human performances that border on insanity. If you're an anime fan, what I just described probably whet your appetite.
This movie I randomly found on Netflix features a cross over movie of two fan favourite anime that sent ripples down the waters of Nerddom. It is not very often you see anime cross overs and this one was an action packed 100 minutes that did not disappoint.
I normally have very little time to watch series these days because of my multiple commitments with work, side hustle and courses but this is one of those moments where I felt like a few more episodes would have been needed.
Both animations feature underground fighting rings with some eccentric characters portraying advanced martial arts and combat techniques. They fight for money, survival and bragging right.
The movie pits two fan favourite fighters in Baki Ohma against each other. Both young brawlers who employ advanced techniques and combat ability, they go against each other to determine the best.
Before the main event took place, there were, side dishes, if you may. Pitting some other fan favorites in both anime series against each other.
I enjoyed the fluid storytelling that is an underlying factor for both series as they tend to have ridiculous but entertaining explanations for their monstrous powers.
To be completely honest, my only issue with the movie is that it came out as a movie, rather than a three season series. It felt like the producers tried to squeeze everything into the movie, ensuring all the notable characters in both sides have their moment.
In any case, there were three fights in total but I won't spoil it for you by telling you who fights. However, there were two notable appearances at the end that would send shivers down the spine of anime needs all over the world. Don't take my word for it, just Google search Youjiro vs Gensai
