From bed to work

I'm usually up long before my shift starts but today, I was cutting it close. In fact, I was very close to missing my start time and I only got up because my wife woke up.

I've got an alarm that goes crazy by 6am but I hardly ever need it because I'm usually up by that time anyway. This morning, the alarm rang before I woke up and after turning it off, I decided to get a little bit more sleep before resuming work by 8am.

When I turn off the alarm, I usually top up my sleep with 30 minutes to one hour. Today, I unintentionally went over board and topped it up with almost two more hours.

I woke up by 7:50, literally ten minutes before my shift starts. Hopped out of bed and jumped straight into action.

I'll be the first to admit that it's not a healthy way to start the day. I usually have a cooling off period where I prepare my body for the day. One of the activities included taking a morning shit that I missed out on.

I've taken a shit every morning for the best part of the last five years. Whenever I don't take a shit in the morning, my body doesn't feel right. I then also get my body clock bent out of shape.

Today, I couldn't take my usual morning shit and had to postpone it to the afternoon. This means that I might not wake up in the right mood for a few days, inevitably ruining my weekend before it even starts.

So, yeah, that's how I jumped out of bed and into work without taking a shit. The moral of the story is make sure you take a shit every morning.
