Opening CHaos Legion packs has been quite underwhelming in recent times but that didn't stop me from buying 10 packs with the profit I earned from my DEC flip I've talked about a couple of times. After opening the 10 packs, I can confidently say that I made a horrible decision.
For whatever little it is worth for context, I didn't buy the Chaos Legion packs directly from the game because I've already bought more than 1000 packs, so I'm assured of at least one of the incoming airdrop monsters. Also, considering how terrible the rewards from CL packs have been, I didn't see any reason why I should be buying each for $4.
Anyway, after opening 10 packs that I got for $21.8, the total dollar value of the assets I found inside was valued at a bit less than $13 at the time. This is just a bit over half of the total cost of investment and this realisation also means that I will no longer be buying Chaos Legion packs.
To put it simply, right now, there's really no immediate value derivable from opening Chaos Legion packs. The simple fact is that there are just far too many of them and the demand for the monsters isn't anything to write home about.
Naturally, I was hoping to find a gold foil legendary in the packs but the best I got was two rare gold foils and a bunch of commons. I mean, things are so terrible with packs that I didn't even get a summoner to console myself.
Lesson learnt
I was caught between two thoughts before buying the packs. On one hand, I wanted to buy chaos legion packs in the secondary market for experimental purposes and on the other hand, I was thinking of simply just reinvesting my profit into specific monsters that I need to improve my ranked play.
It has already been established that buying CL packs turned out to be a bad decision. Even buying from the secondary market didn't change anything and now that I think about it, there were monsters in my deck that the funds could have gone towards.
Once again, for whatever little it is worth, I haven't sold the monsters I got in the Chaos Legion pack, so it is still in the category of unrealised loss. All the monsters will obviously be used for ranked battles so they could still generate in some way through chests and whatnot.
Anyway, the main takeaway from this publication is that if you have a short-term plan to flip assets, then you should absolutely avoid packs. Well, not unless your plan is to flip packs, then you could play around with numbers in the secondary market. Personally, I'll be completely avoiding Chaos Legion packs from now on and only touch packs that I get from rewards.
