Splinterlands is developing a sustainable model

If you've been keeping up with the lates around Splinterlands, then you'll know that some changes are on the way. One of the prominent changes will be in the way rewards are dispersed in ranked battles, daily and seasonal quests.

In a recent update, Splinterlands talked about the change extensively. A briefer version of the extremely long publication highlighted points that you can view here. I took the liberty of taking a screenshot, instead of copy-pasting it.

Other than the main takeaway highlighted by the Splinterlands team, it is also important to note that there will in fact be changes. The changes will naturally require readjusting to and it will impact the game in some way.

Looking at the comment section under the official publication, you get the idea that there's a high level of positivity from the public.

Just thoughts

Firstly, it looks like thanks to this change, the number of ranked battles will be through the roof. This will disincentivise reward farming and promote straight up brawling.

So, in summary, the more you play, the better your rewards. so regardless of which league you find yourself in, play your ass off and your daily/season rewards will be juicier.

At the time of writing, rewards in daily and seasonal loot chests are completely random. However, players that are higher up in ranking will always get the best assets because they open exponentially more chests than players in lower leagues.

So thanks to this change, players in lower leagues will still open the same amount of chest but this time, your effort will be rewarded if you put in the work to earn during the season.

This change that will be implemented next season will also influence the way daily quests work. Thanks to this change, we will be fighting our asses off every day, to increase our reward shares because it will influence the quality of reward you find in your daily quest chest.

I also think that this change will lead to an increased desire from players to bolster their ranks through the market. In the process, this could increase the demand for Splinterlands market as a whole.

I believe that Summoners will be the first to feel the love and then certain monsters from the pre-chaos legion era will feel the love before everyone else.

There's also the fact that people who use starter cards will see their reward shares drop. This basically incentivises the purchase of Splinterlands card from the market, if you want to grow in the game.

The purchase of summoner spellbook will come with a 3000 Credit bonus that can be used to invest in your deck, if you're a new player. This way, you can reduce your reliance on starter cards that will reduce your reward share.

I reckon that with $3, it is possible to put a decent deck of cards together. However, new players will have to buy summoners to maximise their earnings in the lower league.

Validators coming soon

The change in the reward system is quite positive and while SPlinterlands has done a great job in managing the project, there are moves to transform the game into a community-run project. This will be achieved through Nodes that you could see as Hive witnesses.

So, on the 25th of may, the validator licenses will be in the presale period. Note that the validator licenses will be NFTs and they will be tradable in the market, pending when their official use kicks off.

Validator licenses are going to be bought with a certain dollar value of SPS tokens and if my memory serves me right, a decent chunk of SPS used to buy validators will be burnt in the process. So, it is not out of the question to expect SPS to get a little juice in the process.

In a couple of hours, Splinterlands will go into maintenance mode and then a countdown to the presale of validators will be added to the shop. Are you going to be participating in this round of sales, knowing that these validators will certainly cost a lot more in future sales and how they could generate more passive income through Splinterlands?

the more you play, the better your rewards.

This recent update is good. It's actually because of the lower incentives that caused me to reduce the number of my play. If this is really, I might resume my prior activity.

on the 25th of May, the validator licenses will be in the presale period.

My way to participate in this sale is by buying SCV. I hope I can buy up to 5,000. If this is really good, I can increase it up to 25,000.

What does SCV stand for?

Splinterlands Community Validator. Here is @hivebuilder's announcement about this: hivebuilder introduces SCV.

Just went through the post and that's pretty good tbh. At 0.01Hive, we can all get involved in some way.

I think I'm going to buy a couple thousand tokens myself.

Yes, I think that's the goal why SCV was created in the first place because not everyone can afford the validator node. I already bought 500. Thinking of making it to 5,000 for an initial test.

Are you receiving dividend?

No, as I know the SPS rewards will start once the nodes start to operate.

Splinterlands is leading the segment and its high time to accumulate more assets this time

Interesting! Thanks for summarizing the summary of key points :-)

My question is, would you go for some validator NFTs? And aside from that, do you think it is worth it for me to get some more summoner cards? My deck is not very impressive and I own only one summoner of level 2 (the highest level summoner for me).

I enjoy playing from time to time to get some chests. But I'm not the hours-on-end player.

I am very curious though. How things will develop after the big changes are in. It will be a little shaky and there might be some opportunities!

Honestly, if I could afford it, I'd probably buy a validator NFT but that's just me. I have a feeling that the game and SPS in particular, will be valuable in the future. Validators will become the bedrock of the game and steady SPS earning, in the long term, is a solid investment.

It is always a good idea to buy summoners, especially this period that cards are cheaper. Since you don't play actively, you could just focus on the summoner you already have and try to upgrade it to the next level.

Thanks! That's exactly what I had in mind. It is just going so slow :)
