Up and up

It has been 18 long months since we moved into our current address and the time has come for us to move out. We're now in the process of moving out and have found a new place that we're considering.

Considering actually doesn't capture where we are in the process. We've actually found somewhere nice and have decided to move into the place.

We're now in the process of getting it all processed and we've got the agent doing their usual financial checks on us to make sure we're not in debt and all that stuff.

The process of getting a house in the UK is wildly different from how it is in Nigeria. In Nigeria, you could technically find a house and move in immediately but here, you have to go through a while process.

One thing that's similar to our search for a house in Nigeria is that we decided to move into the first house that we both looked at. We've paid the initial deposit to take the house off the market as it looked like the agent liked us.

One thing about houses I've noticed is that while having money is good, the letting agents have to like you and want you to move in there. I think we did a good job in that respect and now we're at the top of the queue to get the house.

We're moving into an apartment, rather than the standalone house that I use to envisage but you know what? It's actually not that bad. It's organized and modern with a lot more space than I expected.

Hope it works out.
Yeah these connected apartments tend to be the norm in UK.
In US it’s much more common a stand alone house.
I’m actually in the UK currently. Staying in connected house.
I always find it amazing how you don’t hear the neighbors

Long term, I'd like to have a standalone house with a backyard where I can roast bbq but for now, this will do.
What city are you in?

I’m currently in Portsmouth staying at my wife’s parents for a week.
I fly this weekend. It was a short visit.
They have a small back garden here, which is nice, but it’s banged up against neighbors on both sides.
It works, but a bit close for comfort for my taste.

really nice space, Belemo.
Hope you and your family have been good
