Getting closer to other countries through movies or series is an excellent experience even if we cannot physically go to those places.

I have already told you that I like to watch series and movies from other countries in their original language. A few months ago it was the turn of Asian countries especially Japan, Korea, China, and Taiwan, although a few days ago I saw a Vietnamese movie of pure action, I'm a fan of martial arts movies, I'll tell you later.

My first conscious approach to Korean cinema was with the film THE PHONE (god what a scare) and of course the Oscar-winner PARASITOS. These productions made me curious about Korean cinema because I already regularly watched Japanese films.

You know that being a Netflix subscriber, we are flooded with publications about the new productions that this streaming platform deals with.

Acercarse a otros países a través del cine o las series, es una excelente experiencia aún si no podemos trasladarnos físicamente hasta esos lugares.

Ya les he comentado que me gustan ver series y películas de otros países en su idioma original. Hace unos meses le tocó el turno a los países asiáticos especialmente Japón, Corea, China y Taiwan, aunque hace unos días ví una película vietnamita de pura acción, soy fan de las pelis de artes marciales, luego les contare.

Mi primera aproximación conciente al cine coreano fue con el film EL TELÉFONO (dios que susto) y por supuesto la ganadora del oscar PARÁSITOS. Estás producciones me sembraron la curiosidad hacia el cine de ese país, porque ya con regularidad veía películas japonesas.

Ustedes saben que al ser subscriptor de Netflix, nos invaden con publicaciones sobre las nuevas producciones que trata está plataforma de streaming.

I had seen a romantic movie when I identified that the protagonist of this one, was going to appear in a good production with a very well-known name LITTLE WOMEN, which in Spanish has been given the title of Las Hermanas. (The Sisters).

Well, I thought it was based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott, which narrates the life of 4 sisters back in 1868, and since I loved both versions, I decided to take a look at the trailer. I confess... it fascinated me!!!!

The introduction to each chapter, we understand it better with each episode we see, is a statement of intent that has no waste.

The series tells the story of 3 sisters who grew up in poverty and that by circumstances of life, face the richest and most powerful family in South Korea.

I would say a drama like any other but... it's full of so many plot twists that I'm always waiting for the next chapter, you don't get bored and we build our own hypothesis to redo it again.

Había visto una película de corte romántico cuando identifique que la protagonista de ésta, iba a aparecer en una buena producción con un nombre muy conocido LITTLE WOMEN, que en español le han dado el título de Las Hermanas.

Pues yo pensé que se basada en la novela de Louisa May Alcott, que narra la vida de 4 hermanas por allá en 1868, y como me han encantado las 2 versiones, decidí darle un vistazo al trailer. Les confieso... me fascinó!!!

La introducción a cada capítulo, lo vamos entendiendo mejor con cada episodio que vemos, es una declaración de intenciones que no tiene desperdicio.

La serie narra la historia de 3 hermanas que crecieron en la pobreza y que por circunstancias de la vida, se enfrentan a la familia más rica y poderosa de Corea del Sur.

Diria un drama como cualquier otro pero... esta lleno de tantos giros en su trama que siempre me quedo esperando el siguiente capítulo, no te aburres además que vamos construyendo nuestra propia hipótesis para reacerla nuevamente.

LITTLE WOMEN: The Script

This is the story of the Oh sisters, three girls who have had a life of many sacrifices as they have grown up in poverty, with many limitations, with parents who are not exactly supportive or comfort.

The eldest Oh In Joo, who has felt the burden of poverty since she was a child and aspires to have a better life for herself and her sisters, was unable to go to college but trained as an assistant accountant. In her work she is the outcast for not having higher education and being poor, she marries young to try to get out of this situation but her marriage doesn't work out and she gets divorced soon.

In Joo, becomes friends with another outcast, Jin Hwa Young who is also an accountant and works in another company in the same building, the Orchid Association, she shows her how the rich manage money and cover up their risky business, but also explains everything she knows about orchids, the different species, their value, and that they are a way for the rich to save their wealth.

Oh In Kyung is the middle sister, she did go to college with a degree in communication, and it was thanks to her grandmother, a rich woman, so one wonders what happened that she didn't help her other sisters.

This sister works for a major television network as a reporter, but like In Joo, she is judged for her low social standing. As a reporter, she has to cover the city's mayoral election, but a series of bad decisions bring out her alcohol problems.

The youngest of the three is Oh In Hye, a high school senior who wants to study art at a prestigious university but can't see how to do so, which leads her to befriend the mayoral candidate's daughter.

In Hye also feels the burden of her situation because she cannot access good study opportunities to exploit her artistic talent. In addition, her older sisters always want to protect her and spare her from the disappointments they have experienced, so they overprotect her.

A side note, in Korea they write the last name first and then the first name, so the last name of these girls is Oh. When I started watching Korean movies and series I didn't understand so I resorted to google to clarify this.

LITTLE WOMEN: el guión

Esta es la historia de las hermanas Oh, tres chicas que han tenido una vida de mucho sacrificio ya que han crecido en la pobreza, con muchas limitaciones, con unos padres que no son precisamente un soporte o consuelo.

La mayor Oh In Joo, quien desde pequeña sintio la carga de la pobreza por lo que aspira a tener una mejor vida para ella y sus hermanas, no pudo ir a la universidad pero se preparo como asistente contable. En su lugar de trabajo es la marginada por no tener educación superior y ser pobre, se casa joven para tratar de salir de esta situación pero no funciona su matrimonio y se divorcia pronto.

In Joo, se hace amiga de otra marginada, Jin Hwa Young quien también es contadora y trabaja en otra empresa del mismo edificio, la Asociación de Orquideas, ella le muestra cómo los ricos manejan el dinero y encubren sus negocios riesgosos, pero también le explica todo lo que sabe sobre las orquides, las diferentes especies, su valor, y que éstas constituyen una forma que utlizan los ricos para guardar su patrimonio.

Oh In Kyung es la hermana del medio, ella si fue a la universidad graduandose en comunicación, y fue gracias a su abuela, una mujer rica, por lo que uno se pregunta ¿qué paso que no ayudo a sus otras hermanas?.

Esta hermana trabaja pora una importante cadena televisiva como reportera pero al igual que In Joo es juzgada por su baja posición social. Como reportera debe cubrir las elecciones a alcade de la ciudad pero una serie de malas deciciones, sacan a relucir sus problemas de alcohol.

La benjamina de las tres es Oh In Hye, una chica que cursa el último año de secundaria y que desea estudiar arte en una prestigiosa universidad pero no ve cómo hacerlo y eso la lleva a hacerse amiga de la hija del candidato a alcalde.

In Hye también siente el peso de su situación porque no puede acceder a buenas oportunidades de estudio para explotar su talento artístico. Además sus hermanas mayores siempre quieren protegerla y evitarle las decepciones que han llevado por lo que la sobre protegen.

Una acotación, en Corea se escribe primero el apellido y luego el nombre, asi que el apellido de estas chicas es Oh. Cuando empece a ver peliculas y series coreanas no entendía por lo que recurrí a google para aclarar esto.

THE CAST

I confess it is hard for me to relate the names but I can distinguish the faces of the actors, I can place them according to the productions I have seen but it is hard for me, I am more accustomed to the West.

However, this does not let me enjoy the excellent performances of the actors and you will see why.

Oh In Joo is played by Kim Go Eun, this actress that I loved the first time I saw her in a movie; definitely, her performance in this series is excellent playing this older sister, with each new episode her character grows. She debuted in 2012 with the movie A Muse for which she received several awards as a breakthrough actress.

Meanwhile, Oh In Kyung is played by Nam Ji Hyun. Reviewing her filmography, I found her extensive career that started in 2004 so she is a veteran despite her 27 years old and just like her older sister in fiction, she has won several awards as a young actress and in other categories.

Oh In Hye is played by the young actress Park_Ji-hoo who at 18 years old is quite an actress, she started her acting activity in 2016, in a short film and then small roles in various films followed, thanks to her participation in the film House of Hummingbird she won the best actress award at the Tribeca Film Festival which has boosted her career.

With the profiles of its main actors, the series already looks interesting.

Those who have seen The Squid Game will also recognize one of their favorite actors Wi Ha-joon who plays a key role and only in the end will we be able to decipher his true interests.

The script was written by Chung Seo-kyung responsible for The Maid and Decision to Leave and directed by Kim Hee-won, known for the series Vincenzo and The Crowned Clown.

EL REPARTO

Les confieso me cuesta relacionar los nombres pero si distingo los rostros de los actores, ya puedo ubicarlos de acuerdo a las producciones que he visto pero me cuesta, estoy más acostumbrada a occidente.

Sin embargo esto no deja que pueda disfrutar de las excelentes interpretaciones de los actores y ya veran porque.

Oh In Joo es interpretada por Kim Go Eun, esta actriz que me encantó la primera vez que la vi unauna película; definitivamente su perfomance en esta serie es excelente interpretando a esta hermana mayor, con cada nuevo episodio su personaje se crece. Debuto en el 2012 con la película A Muse por la que recibe varios premios como actriz revelación.

Por su parte Oh In Kyung la interpreta Nam Ji Hyun. Revisando su filmografia me he encontrado con una extensa carrera que inicio en 2004 por lo que es una veterana a pesar de sus 27 años y al igual que su hermana mayor en la ficción, ha sido ganadora de varios premios como actriz joven y en otras categorías.

Oh In Hye es interpretada por la joven actriz Park_Ji-hoo que a sus 18 años es toda una actriz, inicio su actividad como actriz en 2016, en un cortometraje y luego le siguieron pequeños papeles en varias películas, gracias a su participación en el film House of Hummingbird se hizo acreedora del premio a mejor actriz en el Festival de Tribeca lo que ha impulsado su carrera.

Con los perfiles de sus principales interpretes, la serie ya asoma interesante.

Quienes han visto El juego del Calamar, también reconoceran a uno de sus actores favoritos Wi Ha-joon quien juega un papel clave y que sólo al final podremos descifrar sus verdaderos intereses.

El guión fue escrito por Chung Seo‑kyung responsable de La doncella y Decision to Leave y la dirección estuvo a cargo de Kim Hee-won, conocida por las series Vincenzo y The Crowned Clown.

What would happen if you found 70 billion won?

That is the question that the series invites us to answer, there are still 4 episodes left to air and I am really looking forward to finding out what will happen in the next episode.

Definitely, we can't leave aside Korean and Asian productions in general, there are real treasures there.

It is currently streaming on Netflix USA. It consists of 12 episodes of 90 minutes each that are not to be missed. Right now I'm looking forward to Saturday because In Joo was very... you better watch it 😉.

Esa es la pregunta que nos invita a responder la serie, aún quedan 4 capítulos por transmitirse y realmente he quedado con la espectativa por descubrir qué sucedera en el próximo episodio.

Definitivamente no podemos dejar aun lado las producciones coreanas y asiáticas en general, hay verdaderos tesoros allí.

Se esta transmitiendo en Netflix USA. Consta de 12 episodios de 90 minutos cada uno que no tienen desperdicio. Ahora mismo estoy deseando que llegue el sábado, porque In Joo quedo muy... mejor la ven. 😉
