A fuel station is locally called a filling station here in the southern part of Nigeria. This particular filling station is called Frankies filling station, it has been in existence for more than a decade now and was known for it sales of petrol, kerosene and diesel. Over the years, it has depreciated largely, no longer looking as fancy as it used to be, or have as much staffs and pump attendants as before and because of that, they lost a lot of customers as people no longer patronized them as much, staffs/pump attendants were both underpaid and didn’t receive their pay on time and soon they only sold petrol and nothing else.
Last year out of the blue, they went all out (by they, I mean the management or something) and opened a gas station where they now sell/fill cooking gas with all seriousness. Before anyone could say Jack Robinson, they opened a vulcanizing boot where they pump, repair and replace spoilt or worn out car tyres. Onlookers believed that was the last upgraded version of frankies we would ever see, only to be greeted by another construction early this year, we kept wondering what it was all about, busy bodies also known as “Aproko” went out of their way to make further investigations in an attempt to uncover the mystery construction.
As reports consumed my desk, my mind became flooded with many suggestions, some said it was a cold room where they would produce and sell iced block, others said it was a pure water factory (also known as sachet water), some said it was going to be a frozen food store, quite a few reported that it was going to be used as an office extension but I refused to put my complete faith in these rumors and I believed nothing, until a wooden signpost that lasted less than thirty minutes, which was carried from one corner to another by the manager and one of the male staff before disappearing for good into thin air.
My joy remains the fact that, I was able to catch a glimpse of what was written on the signpost but I didn't thought of writing about it then, if not I would have taken a quick picture of it. Frankies Frozen Foods was boldly written on it with series of perishable proteins drawn on it including fish, chicken and turkey which are the most popular when it comes to frozen foods here.
How hilarious I thought to myself, why is Frankie’s doing so much? I kept wondering and this curiosity led to the penning down of this post, Lol 😂. Nevertheless I am so happy that Frankie’s is coming back to life in a different way, introducing several kinds of stuff to improve their profit outcome and probably gain more customers in the process. Nice work Frankies, you will be fine I guess, although I would suggest you stick to your petroleum business but if this gives you the vibe, then why not? 😁
