Greetings from me to you all and I hope your weekend was great.
Leaving in Nigeria is already so stressful, especially for those doing the 9 to 5 jobs. One would wake up every morning as early as 4:30 AM even when your resumption time is 8 am. Spending all these hours just to beat the traffic and sometimes still ends up being late to work.
After all the morning stress, there would be loads of work pilling up for you to work on, and also the tension of having to submit before the deadline. One would still encounter another traffic on your way back only for you to get home by 10 pm. Feeling exhausted and also repeating the same routine over and over again.
I was in these situations sometimes back and I did it for more than 5 years, and I would say it wasn't easy at all and it makes one age quickly or even causes some sickness.
This is just one of the hundreds of ways you get stressed in my country, especially in the city of Lagos. Well for me I don't do nine to five any longer but then I still encountered lots of stress, emotionally and financially. These are the ways I handle my self whenever I feel stressed:
I sleep
Most times it is quite hard for me to shut my eye and sleep when I'm stressed, especially when it is emotional stress. This only happens when I'm physically exhausted, I would drop my phones, eat, bath and force myself to sleep best believe that I would be very much okay when I wake up.
see a movie
This isn't a scheme for me but I do know that most time when I'm emotionally stressed I watch movies to distract myself from whatever I might be going through. Either on my phone or on tv, this method has enabled me to relieve a lot of stress I might be facing at a time.
snacking
This happens when I'm financially stressed. When I'm broke that's when I would want to eat a lot of snacks 🍩, I would remind myself that I can't kill myself. Also while eating I would try and figure out a way out, and I would make myself happy it has helped me to relieve a lot of financial stress or anxiety.
play games
I sometimes play numerous puzzles on my phone when other ways ain't working or it might be the first I would feel like doing. This has also helped in its ways to free me from anxieties.
These are my normal ways of coping with stress, I would love to read everyone's own too so I can add to the list of things I'm always doing when I'm struggling with stress.
