Brian Tracy is one of the most knowledgeable and detailed speakers I have listened to in recent times. Today, I listened to one of his podcasts on productivity. Productivity is one aspect of people's lives that people are really defaulting at. A lot of people are busy but if you check closely, they are not achieving anything. He talked about how to be productive and how to be a high-achieving person. In this post, I will be talking about Brian Tracy's method of how to be productive.

1. Set Goals

He says that the first step in being productive is setting goals.
Imagine you go out without knowing where you are headed. You can as well be likened to a mad person.
So first things first, set your goals. Set your daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly goals.
However, a lot of people walk around without a plan or destination in life.
So his first step is to know where you are headed. He actually calls it clarity.

2. Think on paper.

A whole lot of people don't do this. When you ask them, they tell you they have their goal in their head or maybe typed out.
According to Brian Tracy, everyone should write out their goal. Writing out your goals helps you allocate top priority activities.
It has also been said that most high-achieving men have a small journal or diary where they write their goals and task.
I was opportune to speak with the Chief Medical Director of the prestigious University College hospital and every single time, he was adding things to his diary.
In summary, write your plans on paper.

3. Eat that frog.

This is a popular phrase used by motivational speakers. It just means doing the hardest and most productive jobs first. It is very tempting to do the easier things first but the most influential people do the harder ones first.
Jeff Besos, CEO of Amazon says that he does his most productive daily routines first before attending to other things. To be precise, he does it after taking his cup of coffee.

The hardest thing about doing the hardest task first is the temptation to procrastinate. Do not fall for this temptation.
Is it working out or coking instead of buying fast food, Just do it?
Is it reading or praying, focus and get it done with.
Also, doing the hardest task releases endorphins in your brain that get you excited to finish another task faster.

In all, the most important factor in being a high-achieving person is the ability to discipline yourself at all times and tell yourself the truth.

Accept and take responsibility for your wrongdoings and work on them.

Celebrate the small wins as well as the big win. Beat yourself up for the losses and learn from your mistakes and other people's experiences.

I guess that's all for now.
