Hello fellow travelers, June is almost approaching and I am sad because our favorite travel community is leaving. I thank all their collaborators for such excellent work on the platform. Is this my last post in the community? Maybe yes... Maybe not... I know from one thing that the future is always uncertain, today I went to visit a small village called: (Marinhais) 68km from the center of the country and that has a beautiful and short history, For me, its landscapes are enough to spend a few hours in the town and enjoy the landscape of the "Tejo River" and how it was in charge of giving life to abandoned lands without political purposes for the kings of Portugal!🚩🚙🌍

Marinhais is located at the following coordinates: (39°03'16″N 8°41'24″W), it is a very small village on the outskirts of Salvaterra dos Magos and the simple fact that it is so close to Salvaterra motivates us to Visit it to learn about the famous falconry practice that was carried out by the kings of Portugal for hundreds of years. By the way, you can see the story in one of my previous posts. Marinhais is one of those small places that you only visit once because there are no A lot of enveloping history and it is a recent town with many mysteries, almost nothing is known about who or when they inhabited the lands in the past!🤴🏻🌲🚩

It is interesting if you like to fly drones because the area is accessible without restrictions you can take some good shots here, in my opinion visiting Marinhais is for those people who like natural adventures such as hiking, fishing and kayaking, not far from Here you can take a boat tour on the Tejo River for less than 25 euros per person, lodging and food is quite affordable so you can stay here to promote tourism in the area and at the same time it serves as a starting point. to visit other areas of the country! Important: (you have to have at least one rented vehicle) the area is poor in public transportation!🌍🚩🧭

A short little story🧭 / Una pequena y corta historia🌍🚩

18th century records🤴🏻🫅🏻

The few records that we have of the village are when several publications mention King Don Miguel I passing through these lands several times to go to the northern mountains to hunt deer, a quite popular sport at the time, this refers to the 18th century, before that little is known about Marinhais, perhaps like its neighboring lands it was occupied by some civilizations that occupied the river for the high natural resource that it produces for the local inhabitants, the name of Marinhais is due to a plant that grows in abundance in the area🧭🌏👩‍🏫

Influence of the Tejo River🧭 / Influencia del Rio Tejo🌍🚩

For centuries the Tejo River served as a shelter and provider of natural resources to many civilizations of the Iberian Peninsula. It originates in Spain and travels hundreds of kilometers, literally passing through half of the Portuguese territory and was used by the first civilizations of the country "Vigoths". "traveling hundreds of years to the Romans, the Moors, among others! throughout the Marinhais area. Several ancient accessories used for fishing have been collected, clearly thanks to the Marinhais River it was always a fishing area, what cannot be proven is that civilizations were established since there are no historical records and this makes Marinhais today a mystery!🌅🏰
