Hive is a platform that I have come to feel safe in. In fact, hive is home and here's why.
You see, for the last two years I have challenged myself because I needed to create wealth but I didn't know how.
I mean, given the high cost of living, being a salary earner means you just work to survive. Basically with the employment style in Nigeria, one cannot comfortably work two jobs because the average Nigerian employer wants to work you to death and take all your time.
It's even worse that the employers will not pay you adequately, especially in the private sector. One's earnings are never commensurate with the effort that they put in. Succinctly put, one gets to work like an elephant but earns like an ant and also feeds like one.
There is a popular saying where I am from which goes, "monkey dey work, baboon dey chop". What this saying means is that, as an employee, you work to grow your employer especially at the expense of your well being and detriment.
I'm employed but then I knew that if I want to create wealth, being an employee will not cut it. Having tried my hand in a restaurant business, I came to the realization that I do not have adequate capital to create wealth from business. I also cannot grow a business and work simultaneously. So how can I create wealth again became a thing of concern.
I did try to earn from some web2 platforms but then the setting is not one which I sync with. I needed something my style, something that would challenge me, grow me and improve my entire well being. I didn't just want to earn, but to earn while learning by the side and Hive did it.
One thing that scared me about going back to further my education was the research aspect which I would be doing mostly. Before now, writing was such a herculean task for me. I can't seem to pen down my thoughts for it to flow.
I would write on something and streamlining it or summarizing it was such an issue because I want to include everything and anything. I didn't know how to stay in character but joining hive and being part of the @theinkwell community fixed all that. I'm not perfect yet but I'm better.
One thing that I do for self improvement as regards writing is to make sure to always join their weekly prompts as a participant because the more I write, the better I get and the more I avail myself for corrections if need be.
In hive, I learned and benefitted from the spirit of giving. Hive is one place that I've been in and met people who genuinely want to help without placing a price tag on it.
From hive, I reawakened my crochet skills from primary school days and became really good at it. I even started a business from it and I'm currently earning from crocheting by the side all thanks to Abenad who dedicated her time to putting me through.
Again from hive, I get to be courageous and bold in voicing out my opinions thanks to PYPT on discord every Thursday at the Dreemport server by 6pm and Hivelearners connect on X every Friday by 5pm. Not only that but through participating in inleo AMA and chain chatter every Tuesday and Wednesday on X/Inleo, I learned and also got to understand Crypto and its dynamics with no charge. This is something people pay as much as $100 and more to learn in my country but there is me gaining the knowledge with no charge.
Like I had always wanted, being on hive gave me the opportunity to learn and earn. It's even more interesting that I get to do what I love and be rewarded for it by the system. How about the opportunity for friendship and building solid connections? This is where Neoxian city comes in through their discord server. The city that never sleeps, never a dull moment and if you are one who loves reality tv shows, the city is sure to keep you more entertained with people all over the world chatting about lifestyle and daily living.
You know, there are so many beautiful sides to hive but then this is just me summarizing it from my side of the block chain.
This brings us to the conclusion: The three things that I love about Hive. For me, It's simply the endless opportunities for wealth creation, building connections and learning.
