Welcome, I really love posts like this when precious metals and 3d printing come together.
So what you see above are some crucible tongs they just came without any handles.
(don't mind the handle on one side it's one I printed)
So in less than 5 minutes I made the design and got it printed out of TPU it's a rubbery type plastic that is fairly flexible.
Right below is V1
I rounded of the edges a little too much the corner got so thin that the printer left an empty space, I went back to the drawing board and reduced the rounding on the edges I figured it would be better that way since it would provide better grip, I could have made it a bit thicker and got the rounded finish without the holes but I opted out for the easy and arguably better fix.
As you can see below this stuff is very flexible Like I mentioned, also a nice thing about this material is you can hit the outside with a heat gun, this will cause the outside layer to get slightly liquify this will increase part strength and make the part smooth and shiny almost like a clear coat is applied.
It took about 2 hours, I printed them individually as this TPU material is notorious for stringing what that is are little plastic hairs that form when moving from one object to another.
Right below are the results, I am pretty happy how it turned out and it feels good holding, I am looking forward to try silver casting very soon, I already tried recently and shared with y'all but I had a bad set up and some bad luck I was trying to base the crucible with borax but it looks like my circuit breakers couldn't handle the electric furnace and the printers going at the same time.
