Gradually Growing My dCity

I got into dCity around December and when I receive a payout from my posts I always throw a couple of Hive in per day to keep gradually growing. I am not in any rush with dCity. I just tip away at it and buy cards off the market to increase my stats. My little bubble is getting larger by the week and it is all about balance. Buy something and then ensure you have enough population to employ in whatever it is you purchased. I was focusing on Creativity initially and now my focus has been to start increasing education so I can mint more cards. I managed to score myself a couple of warshares as well which gives me a steady income.
The thing about dCity is that you do not learn everything all at once. You learn as you play and I find the simulation helpful before you buy some cards. You learn some cards special abilities such as law firms giving you a tax break and little bits like combining cards are now becoming familiar to me. Holding sim as well to ensure Hive payout plus starting to provide sim in the liquidity pool has been another aim of mine so I will slowly add to this now.
I think initially in dCity you are firefighting because you have to lower the crime rate and all kinds of things are happening but once you start building and getting to know the platform your city matures. Now I have been only in the game a month so my population is still under 1000 people but soon I will be over this number. My stats are not too bad. There is nothing I can do about the taxes. My ability to mint new cards is growing gradually so it is all good.
I find the squabbles between the big players very funny with the back and fourth on what is good for the citys. It actually reminds me of real politics where politicians from different parties snipe at each other for what is best for the platform. Is it for their own personnel benefit or is it for the good of the platform remains to be seen. I look forward to the day that I get a brown virtual envelope in the virtual post to increase my military spending. It reminds me of a clip I had seen around the lobbying rules in the British government recently where a well known journalists called out the ethics committee for taking favours for themselves.

dCity politics also always brings me back to the famous Simpsons episode where Homer takes over the Sanitation Commissioners role in Springfield. Homer just spends a whole years budget on one bin collection by promising the world in the elections and blowing the budget on new trucks and uniforms for the bin collectors. The former Sanitation Commisioner Patterson is swiftly reinstated and tells the people of Springfield that they are screwed.

I feel I will be eligible for voting age soon on dCity and I shall try to vote on the site of caution when it comes to the new el presidente. But I am loving the saltiness between all our candidates. This will probably serve them well when they are going for elections in real life. They need to have their policies water tight or the competitor will pick holes in them.

Every week you learn new things about dCity. The new bits I learned this week is:

  1. Warshares are hard to get your hands on especially soldiers.
  2. Cards are becoming more expensive. There are less cards available
  3. I used the explorer tab for the first time to check what cards I minted.
  4. The tax refund cards are hard to come across.

This week I plan to save up for a high income earner plus the population needed to man one of these large business. I need a lab, military complex , drone factory or one of these so I plan to save up a few sim to buy one. Meanwhile I will keep contributing to the pool which has high returns. So that's it from me and dCity. Keep building and building. I have a feeling this game is a sleeping giant.

Hey! What a coincidence! I just started to play this game yesterday but I'm a bit worried I started before understanding it fully... 🙈🙈🙈

ah its fine. You learn as you go.

I had a hard time understanding taxes but I think I've got it by now... I started to build my little city and ended up with -6 SIM income and panicked for a bit 🤣🤣 I managed to buy 3 students and now I get 3 SIM/day as tax refund. Is there any prevision for when income taxes goes down? In your experience how is the income's tax variation?

Thank you in advance for any pointers! 🙏 I'm loving the game nonetheless and I think I'm gonna keep investing a little bit in the dCity game 😉

there are elections every fortnight and whoever the president is can relax the teaxation somewhat. But it all depends on the price of sim. If it is good then taxation comes down. There is nothing we can do about it really. the tax refunds are good. get a law firm as well and that lowers your taxes by 10%. Also buy policemen , students, eco activists and if you can get them, get a warshare. they give you income even when taxes are 100%. But another way to go is to increase your creativity and education and this means you can start minting cards on your own and you can then sell them. creativity prints background cards. Education prints immigrants and technology cards. You actually get hive every day if you are high in certain areas. Its not much but its something. Also if you hold more than 8000 sim you will get rewards also every day.

Thank you! Very useful information 🙏 right now I don't have enough SIM tokens to buy any more cards and some of the ones that lowers taxes are at high prices on the market so I'm just gonna wait and hodl 😄 but it as a good potencial to be rewarding as a fun game as well 👌
