Greetings everyone @hivenaija!
Nigeria is a beautiful country, with different cultures, ethnics groups and diverse languages, we have people with different talents and potentials who are thriving so hard to make the country a better place.
Just like other countries, Nigeria is facing challenges in various aspects ranging from bad economic, infrastructure, poor education, insecurities and the health sectors really need to be improve.
Sometimes it seems the fight against corruption has been neglected by the government and democracy is no longer functioning. Amidst all this we do not have to solely depend on the government to make the country better.
As a good citizen we have to work hands in hands collectively and put a whole lot of effort to make Nigeria a better place. While hoping that one day the country will be a place of our dream, where people do no travel abroad to look for green pastures.
Participating in our communal activities, education, helping those in need, employing others, organizing health talks and improving our private clinics will help push Nigeria to a certain level.
We are all hoping that we want our country Nigeria to be better in many aspect, what are you doing that you think is benefiting your community or city or country in general ?
As an health Education student, last year I and few of my colleagues visited few communities to lecture pregnant women about PICA. PICA is craving and eating non food items such as chalk, laundry and corn starch, paint, freezer ice and clay during pregnancy. We took out time to educate them on the risk of consuming this items during pregnancy and why they are dangerous, what they can do and also we talk to them about what to replace their craving for non food items with by trying to eat something similar. For e.g
WHEN CRAVING | TRY |
---|---|
ICE | EATING FROZING FRUIT JUICE EATING FROZEN FRUITS LIKE GRAPES, STRAWBERRIES, RASPBERRIES OR BLUEBERRIES. |
CLAY/STARCH | EATING DRY CEREAL OR TRAIL MIX, EATING PRETZELS AND EATING CRACKER BISCUITS. |
And towards ending of last year we have also educate women on food they should and shouldn't give to their babies on their first year. We talk about how adding solid from birth to 4months can cause in the future; ulcer, allergic reaction , and obesity because infant cannot digest solid well.
February this year I and my colleagues conducted a programme in a community in Etimekpo Local government area in Akwaibom state with a Tagged NO HONEY DURING BABIES FIRST YEAR
We talk about how honey is safe for most persons over one year and how it's unsafe for babies first here. Honey can make your baby sick. It has a bacteria that can grow in your baby's stomach and make a strong Poison. So honey causes BOTULISM in babies. We also talk to them about reasons they should call the doctor. This programmes will help reduce the rate of sick children and health issues that might likely occur in the future
I do not joke with communal activities such as cleaning activities done in my community every last
Saturday of the month. I make sure that I fully participate.
Cassava farm
Plantain plantation
I am a farmer and also an enterpreneur, I believe in the saying that "there's no food for lazy man", I pay people to work in the farm, it is also a means of eradicating poverty and hunger.
To make Nigeria a better place, our collective effort is require, starting from our family, community, and the society at large. Let's join hands together to make our country a good place. In terms of securities, everyone has to be vigilant, report any crime case to the police, employ the people around you, empowerment should be done if you have the funds, health talk should not be underated; teach the people how to promote good health.
Let's not solely depend on the government, let's thrive together to improve our country.
