Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. It’s been a while since I made a proper crochet top for myself and then I came across one on the @sheilla page on IG. I Instantly fell in love with the top which she named Apricity top - I have forgotten the reason why. Anyways, I decided to make that particular one.
Sheilla is a really good crocheter and I started learning crochet from her on Youtube. Her tutorial helped a lot, although it has some things I would like to point out for anyone interested in using any of her tutorials.
While she makes great stuff and her tutorials are easy to understand. She doesn’t quite consider all body sizes and different hooks and tension. In the sense that, when explaining she uses the number of rows and the number of stitches to explain and if you follow them exactly how she says it, you may not get a fitting crochet wear.
Depending on the type of yarn and tension, My ten rows may be different from your ten rows, she often doesn’t consider that. It will be easier if the sizes are explained in Inches to make for a more fitting cloth.
Anyway, away from Sheilla. I started my top the same way as she. I used 3.5 inches as width to start the shoulder and made regular half double crochet rows for 6.5 inches as length and then I started increasing on both sides to accommodate the breast area.
I took the bust measurement and divided it by 4 to get the size for each of the front pieces since the pattern requires such. I proceeded to make the front piece after joining both separate pieces. The total length for the front piece is 14 inches.
Then I went on to make the two back pieces but without any increases on the body part only the armhole to match with what I did on the front piece. When I was done, I joined the shoulders and body pieces together.
I went ahead to make the edges neater and add the sleeves using shell stitches. It is easy to make the top, so it didn’t take much of my time.
I love the final look, it’s just perfect. I hope you like it too.
Thanks for stopping by ❤️
