Hello everyone and welcome to another beautiful week. Today I'm pleased to share my latest crochet creation with the needlework community. This dress has been in my unfinished project corner for over 6 months, although not my intention. I ran out of yarn before getting my desired dress length.
The original design had a bra cup design in one part and the other side is curved to match it, while the back will have some coverage, then straps. Also, it was supposed to have sleeved on one side of it. All went well with making the top of the dress and so I went on to make the bottom part but ran out of yarn before I could get the length I wanted as the dress could barely cover my butt.
After months of unsuccessfully trying to get that same yarn, I decided to change the top design and maybe recreate that with another yarn. So I started unravelling the design at the top. What I had in mind was to create enough coverage at the top and then use the leftover yarn to increase the length at the bottom.
So, I started with that, by making some rows of double crochet so I can work the coverage. I left some space in between, you know to give it some spice😂 Anyway, I worked the first side and when I was getting close to the shoulder area, I started decreasing the width, majorly because I needed to make good use of the yarn I have left. Then I did the same thing on the other side of the dress.
After the upper part was completed, It was time to increase the length of the dress. I was able to get a few more rows down and also did some rows of mesh with the yarn left from the top and the yarn from the sleeve before I exhausted all the yarn I had left. The length was better although still not up to my desired length but enough to serve as a decent dinner gown.
I styled the dress in three different ways, which one is your favorite?
