Hello to any of my readers and "Dear (weekly) Diary" 😜
It looks like the crypto market is holding on strong this week from last week's gains. Does this mean the storm clouds are over? It seems like even the SEC attempting to crack down on the various CEXes are overshadowed by Big Finance ploughing ahead with their plans for a listed Bitcoin ETF. 📈🚀 July is also historically a strong month for crypto. Let's see what happens in the weeks ahead.
On the Splinterlands dev side of the game, a third consecutive week of cricket noises. Yup that's how quiet it has been. Interestingly, there has been no Town Hall this week too. I haven't seen that happen in some time. The biggest thing of note is probably the end of the Splinterlands 5th Anniversary "Great Burn" event. Did any of you guys get really lucky with your prizes? 😜
But before I go into detail...
A brief introduction before I start though...
Good Day to all Splinterlands players! (and people of HIVE! 😜) I've made it a point to blog about my weekly progress and experiences in Splinterlands/HIVE in my "weekly diary". Splinterlands & HIVE are what I'd consider to be my entry point into the World of Crypto, and I intend to use this as a means to look back on the path I've taken in the years ahead.⏳⏳⏳
This is now the 84th consecutive week writing in my Diary (of sorts) detailing my Splinterlands Journey ever since I started this game. I talk about what has gone on my personal Splinterlands playing experience, my weekly Guild Brawl Reports, and also any Splinterlands ingame news. 🎉🥳🎊
No week goes by in Splinterlands without some news event happening though. And here's my pick of some of the most interesting ones in my opinion. 📰📰📰
🗺️🧳✈️Updates on my Splinterlands Journey🗺️🧳✈️
Yesterday saw another season completed in Splinterlands, and with that, the last minute flurry of activity that comes with every EOS. Players rushing to grind out as high a level as they can possibly get, or even the points needed for that last reward chest.
It was no different for me too as I went about with my own last minute final burst of activity. Both my accounts finished in the Gold League but the total number of chests this season was much lower than the previous one. Looking back, it has been a pretty tough season with lots of maxed out decks that I've been facing. I really need to look into fully upgrading or renting higher level cards to match my league bracket.
My EOS rewards were pretty disappointing overall too. No Chaos Legion packs or big piles of SPS, and no Gold Foils at all. I think the only "consolation" prize were 2 legendary Drybone Raiders in my main account. At least that allowed me to level that really useful card up to level 2. 😁
My quest for more Gold Foil Legendary cards from my rewards chests continues on ("Greed is Good!" 😈). It's a 0.008% chance, at base level, to pull a legendary gold foil, in case you were wondering 😉. Here's to more jackpot strikes in the future (i hope) 🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀.
I have not managed to get any new Nightmare packs to replace all those I've sold. I will wait patiently to get them at the price I want. 🤑
⚔️🛡️Weekly Guild Brawls Report⚔️🛡️
With the end of the week comes my latest Splinterlands Guild Brawl Report for "PIZZA 2 The Deep Dish" too. 🍕⚔️🛡️
There isn't anything of note to speak of in my Gladius Case openings, so I'll leave it at that. Hopefully something better will pop up after I accumulate enough for another one.
🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀 Fingers crossed for a Gold Foil (Legendary!!!) I hope 🤣🤑 for my future Gladius packs. (or any packs/rewards chest for that matter 😉)
My main regularly picks up the ✨🏅✨Gold Foil Chaos Legion Only Fray no.12✨🏅✨ while my alt takes up the ✨🏅✨Wild Novice League Fray no. 2✨🏅✨ every week.
Both accounts seemed to have performed really well this week with the main and alt registering a 7-0 and 8-1 score.
PIZZA 2 Guild managed to finish in 4th place! 🏆🏆🏆
I was really quite surprised with only a 4th place finish to be honest. We had a really good turn out this week (thanks to @vaynard86 and @chefbgob filling in 2 slots with their alts) and everyone's results were really good too!
However, it was unfortunate that the group we were placed in were full of guilds which completely outnumbered us when it came to total participants. Even though we registered the LEAST number of losses by a significant margin, we still fell short of the total number games.
That said, the "winning" guild was a known BOT FARM too. It looks like the bots have invaded the guild brawls after being banned from the Modern format. There has been plenty of big posts recently urging for a complete ban on bots and the sentiment of the REAL HUMAN playerbase is likewise for it. If Splinterlands still refuses to make the hard choices for the future of the game, then I'm afraid it is doomed to fall by the side eventually. That would be a pity indeed.
Well enough whining! 🤣
Great Job from everyone who took part in the Guild Brawls! I'm proud of you all! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
On a sidenote, we've still got some unfilled frays too so...
BTW, PIZZA 2 is recruiting 😜 and looking for active players who can commit to attending every single guild brawl. Do hop into the PIZZA DISCORD if anyone is interested (or knows someone who is).
🏆💰🎁Splinterlands News🏆💰🎁
The Great Burning has finally concluded after an entire month! In total, an astonishing 542 million DEC/DEC-B was burnt! That is no small amount and the price of DEC has definitely appreciated thanks to that campaign. It is still nowhere near the peg that is required but is slowly inching towards that point.
Perhaps, with the passing of a recent proposal in which DEC can be used to buy Riftwatchers packs, that magical peg for DEC will finally be achieved. That is something the Splinterlands team has been working really hard towards. The idea is that the peg will then encourage SPS to be burnt for DEC as has been the plan always and a flywheel will go into motion that turbo charges the entire economy.
Will that happen? I'm no economist or financial guru. It will definitely be beneficial for all invested players if that were the case. But personally, I still think the rampant bots are the biggest problem the game is facing. They were a problem that had been pointed out almost a year ago and the failure to act on them has resulted in a whole host of problems which the team only belatedly admitted and attempted to address. It is still clearly NOT enough and more drastic measures such as a complete and total BANHAMMER is needed like what all AAA games do.
Weekly Riftwatchers Sales Tracker
Well, CHAOS LEGION IS ALL SOLD OUT! So the next most logical thing to track next are the sales of Riftwatchers.
1,027,309 packs have been sold (as of the writing of my post) out of a total supply of 3 million. There's still almost 500k to the next count of 1.5 million packs sold before we get the next Legendary Riftwatchers Airdrop card. 🚀📈🤑
