Happy Friday, amazing people!
Last night, I stayed up way past my bedtime, and this morning, I dragged myself out of bed just a short while ago. I'm still in that fuzzy 50/50 zone between sleep and wakefulness, so as I try to gather my thoughts, I'm brewing my very first cup of coffee to kickstart the day! Now, here I am, stuck in writer's block mode. But wait, a spark of inspiration struck earlier when I was casually flipping through my old photos. I stumbled upon memories that whisked me back to a time when I was footloose and fancy-free, navigating the corporate jungle while calling Baguio City my home for a decade.
I penned numerous blogs about this charming city, gushing about its breathtaking landscapes and stunning vistas. But I never got around to writing about its crown jewel, the one and only Burnham Park. This iconic spot holds a special place in my heart. I used to wander its paths on lazy days off, soaking in the tranquility it offered. Even in the early days of my marriage, Burnham Park was our go-to spot for leisurely strolls and peaceful moments.
I'm super pumped to invite you on a fun-filled journey back in time to the magical Burnham Park Lake. Imagine basking in the warm sunlight, the gentle breeze whispering through the pine trees, and the sound of joy echoing all around. So, grab your virtual gear and let's dive deep into a whirlwind of memories and photos at Burnham Park Lake!
The History:
In Baguio City, Burnham Park is an awesome park that's like a green paradise in the middle of the city. It's named after Daniel Burnham, a cool architect dude, and it's all about chilling and having fun. Just imagine a big park with a man-made lake for boating, pretty gardens, and cool paths for walks and bike rides. There's even a famous grandstand for events. They made this park way back in the 1900s to give people a break from the city chaos and bring nature into the urban scene. It's like a green oasis where folks can hang out, enjoy nature, and build a sense of community. Burnham Park is all about blending city life with nature, and it's a favorite spot for everyone to relax, socialize, and soak in Baguio's beauty. So, whether you're up for a boat ride, a picnic, or a leisurely stroll, Burnham Park is the place to be for good vibes and nature love in Baguio City!
Fun Memories:
Living in Baguio City for a decade turned it into my cozy home, blending seamlessly into the local scene. As a resident, I rarely played tourist and explored the city's iconic spots. Surprisingly, I never hopped on one of those charming boats for rent at Burnham Park. It wasn't until my husband, an expat in the Philippines, expressed interest in boating that I finally gave it a go. While flipping through our photo album, I realized we didn't capture our boat ride, but we did manage to snap some shots while eagerly waiting for our turn. The boats, designed like giant swans, added a touch of whimsy to the lake. From afar, they truly resembled graceful avian creatures gliding across the water, adding a magical touch to the park's ambiance. And guess what? The boat owners at Burnham Park are the real MVPs of marketing! It's like a boat carnival out there lol. You turn a corner, and there they are, all vying for your attention. Choosing the perfect boat becomes a hilarious dilemma because, let's be real, they all look alike! In the end, we went with the one whose owner had the biggest smile and the friendliest vibe. It's all about that good energy when you're setting sail on the swan-shaped beauties of Burnham Park! By the way at that time, boats were available for rent at a rate of PHP 250.00 for 30 minutes. It was worth it! The boat rides are open from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, allowing visitors to enjoy a leisurely cruise on the man-made lake in the park. It's a fantastic way to relax and soak in the beauty of Burnham Park while gliding across the serene waters.
The Lake and Beyond:
If you're tired of boating, there's more to do than wander around the lake. The awesome world of Burnham Park beyond its famous lake is like stumbling upon a hidden treasure trove of fun and excitement. Imagine walking through the vibrant Rose Garden, where colors pop like fireworks, or swinging by the Children's Playground, where giggles and playtime rule. Don't skip the Orchidarium and Butterfly Sanctuary, a whimsical spot where butterflies flutter and orchids dazzle. Take a cultural pit stop at the Igorot Garden as well, decked out with traditional huts and cool tribal art that screams Cordillera heritage. And for a cool thrill, strap on your skates and hit the skating rink for some icy fun and laughter. Burnham Park is a playground full of surprises and cool stuff just waiting for you to explore, so pack your sense of wonder, grab your camera, and let this urban oasis whisk you away on a rad journey of discovery and pure joy!
I can't wait to go back to my second home! Until our next travel adventures, my friends. Thank you for stopping by and wishing you all a wonderful day!
