No poem is short. No poem is long. It depends on interpretation. A poem may be simple. A poem may be difficult. It depends on appreciation. A simple word in poetry can be volumes of prose or play. So a poem is a mystery laden with meanings. A poem is concentration or concretization of emotions in words and patterns specially adapted to pass either message or music or both. In other words, poetry is the system used by poets to relate with the society their reflections on life or society in the words that will hold them bound by message, music, plots or themes. In short poetry is the use of poems.
A poet is not different from his poems; not different from his world. Instead, he tries to change his world through the words in his poem. He may for instance, show contentment with the system, applaud it, or he may show discontent with some aspect of the system.
This poem is essentially a journey into Man's political, social, spiritual and economic domains. It examines various issues of corruption, tribalism, religion and apathy. It questions attitudes of individuals, postures of companies, dispositions of communities and positions of government. It delves into the past , criticizes the present and forecast for the future.
If united we stand
The sun and the
Moon unite
The day and the night
Unite
The co-exist
The cloud and the stars
Also co-exist
Fishes and crabs co-exist
That's how we met them
Gathered they flow
As streams
When the rays are gathered
They shine as sun
So do sticks become brooms
When they stick together
Predators if we fall
We fall from top to
Ground if we fall
For what we love or hate
Depending on how we fall
And if we fail to stand when we fall
Three states in one
Freezing, melting, evaporating.
Three states of matter
Solid, liquid, gas
Three in one
The great work of
Unity borne
Yellow, white, and she'll
And it works like matter
In our being
To talk of our being
Is to dwell too much
Too soon on this truth
But you too know
That it is spirit, soul
And body that make a man
Yet man is one
A spirit that lives in
A body and has a soul
Does a fowl, a fish
Or a fruit have a soul?
Do they have a spirit
Worn by the soul
Or lurking in the skin?
It will suffice will it not?
He is three but one
Father, son, and spirit
One God, one purpose
One way, one beginning
One end, one God
Showing us the greatest love
Which in unity is bound
That God is love and
Love is God
And that unity can make
The world go round
Making everything good come
Making things not fall apart
And the center to hold
When they get together
Think and talk and act
Together
So things get better
When they get together
Now than ever
As divided we stand not!
