Fear is the main enemy.

How many times have you said or heard the following sentences from someone; “You will kill me with disgust”, “if I continue to feel so bad I will get sick”, “so much disappointment and so much bad news that I will end up getting cancer”, who have not heard this type of expressions in a conversation during their life, because once again popular wisdom is right.

And in fact, situations of sadness, anxiety, depression, upset in general generate cortisol, something that can have a negative impact on us; If there is an ideal hormone in our body, it could be, among others, oxytocin, the love hormone, a hormone that puts us in a good mood, causes us pleasant sensations, gives us pleasure and, above all, reinforces the immune system. system among some other functions, but if there is such a nemesis, oxytocin, an enemy, the evil alter ego of oxytocin, it would be another hormone called cortisol.

And a high level of cortisol in our body lowers the body's defenses and makes us sick, not only because we may be weaker against possible external pathogens, but because the immune system is the greatest watchdog to ensure that we do not are cancer cells in our body.

When our immune system detects a strange multiplication of our cells, that is, when it suspects that there are tumor cells that are starting to reproduce, it is our own immune system that attacks those cells and eliminates them as the best anti-tumor imaginable and logically more powerful is, the earlier our immune system will respond to a possible risk of these cancer cells.

And on the contrary, in a weak immune system there is a greater possibility that these cells proliferate and give rise to the dreaded disease, and when we talk about the immune system, people think that its only mission is to avoid colds, infections and little other or no, our body's defense system is very complete, I insist that it not only defends us from external threats, but also defends our own cells from internal threats that multiply in a disorderly way.

So what does fear have to do with all this, most people already know that stress, anxiety and depression lower the immune system, but fear, basically fear, is one of the things that lowers it the most, because cortisol is generated in abundance in scary situations.

So when you are afraid, our immune system generates a stress response in which the level of cortisol increases and this cortisol has the characteristic of lowering the body's defenses. Logically, if you have low body defenses, not only are you more prone to infectious diseases, but also if you have a predisposition, your immune system will be less alert or less effective when faced with a suspected multiplication of cells in our body.

And this is what the media does 24 hours a day, From this we can deduce that watching television will cost your health, if not worse, so a scary situation will generate a lot of cortisol hormone and cortisol will lower the body's defenses.

Cortisol is a hormone that has its own function and that is that the human body is perfect and everything it has is for a reason, those who are not perfect are us who use our "machinery".
