I went for a walk today. It was pretty early in the morning, I was enjoying the cold but sunny atmosphere near the port of my hometown ...
... when I noticed five elegant birds in the shallow water ...
... near the hotel called Arcus. The hotel is closed for years now. Almost a decade, I think. Something went wrong. I remember hearing something about debt, bankruptcy, criminal activities. I don't know, it was some years ago and I wasn't interested back then, even less now. The fact is that the relatively big hotel is closed and quiet ...
... and the Egrets often search for food in the inlet just beneath the building.
These are the Little egrets (Egretta garzetta). They are very common in the shallow, muddy inlets of my hometown and surroundings.
I saw five birds at first, but two of them flew away soon.
Only three were there when I decided to go home ...
... and a seagull was floating ...
... a bit further, in equally shallow water.
An hour or so earlier, I was photographing some tattered nylon foil brought by the wind. That nylon looked kinda elegant and somehow resembled the Egrets, in an abstract way. But that's another story. And that story was told here on HIVE, earlier today. So that's it. As always in these posts on HIVE, the photographs are my work - THE END.
