The other day Sophia and I were talking and she casually mentioned she'd like to get her hair cut short. Now, I have very bad memories from when I was her age and my great grandma took me to her hairdresser who literally cut my hair like a boy. So I started asking her what made her want such a drastic change. She said she's just tired of having long hair but also, she wants to look like mommy 🥺😍
El otro día, Sophia y yo estábamos hablando cuando ella mencionó casualmente que le gustaría cortarse el pelo. Y yo me acordé de cuando tenía su edad y mi bisabuela me llevaba a su peluquera - tenia el cabello como un niño. Entonces empecé a preguntarle a mi niña qué la hizo querer un cambio tan drástico. Dijo que está cansada de tener el pelo largo, pero también quiere parecerse a su mamá 🥺😍
And since I encourage her to make her own decisions (just not when it comes to food because she somehow always ends up eating desserts), we decided to go get that haircut today. No amount of snow or wind could stop us and, trust me, we were met with loads of both!
Y como la animo a que tome sus propias decisiones (solo no cuando se trata de comida porque de alguna manera siempre termina comiendo postres), decidimos ir a cortar su cabello hoy. Ninguna cantidad de nieve o viento pudo detenernos y, créanme, nos encontramos con un montón de ambos!
I brought her to a place called HairPlay, which is a kids only hair salon. The two women working there were extremely pleasant to talk to and super welcoming. They made both of us feel excited about a simple haircut. The place itself was nothing special but they did try to make it a bit more fun for the kiddos with some games, art and a very cool pair of car chairs.
La llevé a un lugar llamado HairPlay, que es una peluquería solo para niños. Las dos mujeres que trabajaban allí eran extremadamente agradables para hablar y muy acogedoras. Hicieron que ambas nos sintiéramos emocionadas por un simple corte de pelo. El lugar en sí no era nada especial, pero intentaron hacerlo un poco más divertido para los niños con algunos juegos, un poco de arte y un par de sillas para autos geniales.
We were both happy with the final result and I have to admit, Sophia knew exactly what she was doing. She chose the hairstyle by herself and, even though I thought she might regret it, she doesn't seem to. Just look at her smile 😍
Las dos estábamos contentas con el resultado final y debo admitir que Sophia sabía exactamente lo que estaba haciendo. Eligió el peinado ella misma y, aunque pensé que podría arrepentirse, parece que no. Solo miren su sonrisa 😍
