I've been having the same issue for the past couple of years so I'm sharing it here in the hopes that I'm not the only one. I can't be, can I?! 😅
Every weekend, I make sure I get some time to myself - a quiet, cozy couple of hours away from anyone and anything. On those evenings, I'd order in and head over to Netflix/ Prime/ Disney, hoping to be able to start a movie before my food arrives. That rarely happens, unfortunately. And when it does, it's pretty much because I've decided to either watch a tv show or rewatch a film I've seen a thousand times before. And knowing me, it's usually the latter.
So here are a few movies I'd rewatch in a heartbeat!
Kate & Leopold
Genre: Fantasy/ Sci-fi/ RomCom
Cast: Meg Ryan, Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber
Credit Photo: The Jane Austen Film Club
Plot: I'll go over the plot briefly as I really don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.
The story follows Leopold - a duke from the 1900s who, in order to save his family's fortune, must find a bride as soon as possible. However, fate seems to have other plans for him because the day of the ball in which he must name the woman he'll marry, he sees Stuart - a very strange but interesting man. Curiosity wins and Leopold follows this unfamiliar man to Brooklyn Bridge where they end up falling into what seems to be a time portal. When Leopold wakes up in the morning, he realizes he not only has to figure out what had happened and how to go back to his home, but also deal with Stuart's ex-girlfriend who lives downstairs.
There is quite a bit of "old school" romance between Kate and Leopold - from the way Leo carries himself around her, to the way he speaks, to the unexpected, charming gestures he does for her. Like a romantic, candle-lit dinner on the rooftop accompanied by the enchanting melody of a violin 😍
Overall: I'm in love with the cast in this movie - Meg is absolutely stunning; Hugh as a duke - need I say more?! I also adore Liev in this particular film - he's responsible for a big chunk of the comedic scenes.
This is one of my most favourite movies and stories. It has a bit of everything - comedy, drama, romance, even some sci-fi moments. If you're having a bad day or you simply want to enjoy a good movie, this one will definitely do the trick. A must-see in my books 😊

Just Like Heaven
Genre: RomCom/ Drama/ Fantasy
Cast: Reese Witherspoon, Mark Ruffalo, Jon Heder
Credit Photo: Tribute.ca
Plot: Again, will try to keep this short and sweet, without sharing too many details.
The story is about two people who find themselves connected in a very bizarre way. We are first introduced to Elizabeth - a doctor who's put her career first and has little to no time for dating, hence zero personal life. As much as she loves her job, she feels lonely and craves having a meaningful connection with someone. However, that desire is cut short as she gets into an accident on her way to a blind date.
We are then introduced to David - a widower who, after a quick nudge from the universe, decides to move into Elizabeth's old apartment. And that's when the fun begins 😁David starts seeing Elizabeth's ghost which makes him think he's gone bananas. However, after a few fun encounters and with the help of a very mysterious sorta medium, David feels compelled to figure out what had happened with Elizabeth as she doesn't seem to remember anything.
Overall: Be prepared to ball your eyes out! Even though this movie is leaning towards the fantasy genre, you can still feel the romance/ drama in every scene. Mark Ruffalo made me fall in love with him with exactly this movie (and not "13 going on 30" 😝). Reese looks as beautiful as ever! And Jon Heder makes a very memorable appearance! Again, would recommend watching if you haven't seen it. And if you have, well it's time to rewatch it!😊

Serendipity
Genre: Romance/ Comedy
Cast: Kate Backinsale, John Cusack
Credit Photo: Variety
Plot: Christmas. New York (these few words should be enough for you to want to watch this movie 😁). Two strangers meet, trying to buy the same pair of black Cashmere gloves while Christmas shopping. After they figure out the glove situation, they grab dessert at a cute, little place called (you guessed it) "Serendipity". Jonathan and Sara feel drawn to each other for some inexplicable reason, even though they are both in relationships at the time. Sara is someone who believes that if two people are meant to be together, they will be. And fate will be the force that will help bring them back to each other by giving them little clues along the way. However, fate decides to play a trick on them and separates them.
Cut to years later, Jon is set to marry and Sara was just proposed to by her boyfriend. And yet, both of them still often think about one another. So they decide to have one last try at finding each other.
Overall: I used to love this movie. I cannot tell you the amount of times I've seen it. However, over the years, I've come to the realization that there are little bits and pieces about it that kinda bother me (like the fact that a few days before his wedding, Jon decides to go find Sara - someone he's met years ago and whom he hung out with for a few hours). BUT! I still find the movie really cute and romantic! Although now I try to overlook the facts and just focus on the bigger picture 😁I love Kate in this movie, I also enjoyed John's performance (he looks very dreamy in a way), however I can't really feel any chemistry between them. Would love to see a remake of this movie, to be honest. But, for all the romantic souls out there, this is a great watch!

If Only
Genre: Romance/ Fantasy
Cast: Jennifer Love Hewitt, Paul Nicholls
Credit Photo: IMDB
Plot: This movie cannot be broken down without spoiling anything. So I'll be brief. Samantha and Ian are a seemingly happy, in love couple. She is a musician while he works in finance. They look so different from one another - Sam is sweet, fun and expressive whereas Ian seems distracted and always on edge. But even though we see a happy couple, as we all know, things aren't always what they appear to be. And one night will change both their lives in the blink of an eye.
Overall: When I tell you I adore this movie with all my heart...I mean it! It's such a great story with an unexpected plot twist (at least it was, back when I watched it for the first time 😁). I don't think I've seen many Paul Nicholls movies but he does an amazing job here! As for Jennifer...I grew up with her movies so she holds a special place in my heart. Plus, her smile is extremely contagious!😊 Beware though, you'll be needing lots of tissues because this film will touch the deepest parts of your heart 🥺
P.S. Bonus! Great soundtrack by Jenn herself 🤩

Just My Luck
Genre: Romance/ Comedy
Cast: Lindsay Lohan, Chris Pine, Chris Carmack, Samaire Armstrong
Credit Photo: AlphaCoders
Plot: The movie follows the lives of Ashley and Jake - two people who are complete opposites. Ashley has a great job, amazing friends and a beautiful place. She is also the luckiest person alive! Jake, on the other hand, works as a janitor and is an aspiring music producer who has the worst luck ever. These two seem worlds apart but a kiss they share at a masquerade ball will have their lives intertwined and change their futures forever.
Overall: This movie will make you laugh as much as it will make you cringe 😂 I've seen it a million times and still go through all the emotions every time I rewatch it. It's a very light, feel-good type of movie so I totally recommend it on nights where you simply want to unwind and relax. Chris Pine is a delight in this movie, Lindsay is gorgeous and we also get to enjoy a bit of Chris Carmack! 😍
Thank you so much for stopping by! Appreciate the support ♥️ Wishing you all a fantastic and cinematic rest of the week! ♥️
