You would think I spent my whole weekend betting for as many sporting events were taking place. That actually wouldn't be the case. I did place some bets, but I was far too busy just enjoying the show to actually put any skin in the game.
There were some amazing contests on this past weekend. Looking back, I can see where I should have went. Putting a total over score on the Michigan/TCU game would have been a good idea. Pair that into a parlay with the Georgia/Ohio State game and I might have been sitting pretty going into this week.
Just yesterday I threw down some money on a couple of soccer matches, but as you will see those didn't work out any better for me than my football bets. It was just a rough week all around for me. I am hoping I can adjust that moving forward.
You can't lose them all right?
Like the title says, you will soon see just how close I came to winning so many of my parlays. I guess that is what they are counting on though. I think I need to stop doing the same game parlays and starting doing some of the ones that go across games. That might give me a chance to cash out with a gain before that last leg doesn't hit!
This Alabama bet was actually pretty good. They ended up destroying Kansas State, the only place I fell short was Gibbs didn't score two touchdowns. He had over 72.5 yards though. So close...
I did a little basketball betting too. This was another one of those parlays that I set up myself. I was looking at the lines and I decided to pick three teams that didn't were under +200 in terms of winning.
It took me a while to figure this out, but if the number is negative for a team it usually means they are favored to win. If it is positive, they are favored to lose. How big the number is determines the expected chances they have of winning or losing. Closer to zero would be considered even odds I guess.
Anyway, I took three teams that were projected to lose, but not by too much. Meaning they might actually have a chance to win. I threw those in a parlay and all but one of them hit. Dang you St. John's for coming up short. That could have been a cool $12 gain for me.
I should have known better than to do a five leg parlay. With the Giants playing the Colts there was a good chance they could hit all of them though. Unfortunately, it just wasn't meant to be. I will have to be more careful in the future with bets like this. If I had to guess, I saw that potential to win $20 on a $1 bet and it got the better of me.
As far as the bet on the Michigan/TCU game, I don't apologize for that at all. I think anyone else in the world would have made this bet going into the game except maybe TCU fans. Given the fact that the odds were something like 200 to 1 for TCU to even make it this far, this was a solid bet.
I think most of us know how the game turned out though. Michigan didn't win an that would have killed me right there. With TCU putting up insane numbers, Michigan had to rely on their other tools besides Edwards. It didn't end well for me.
Sunday I put some money down on NFL Football again. As you can see, the first bet was just a hot mess. I'm not even sure what I was thinking here. I think it was two separate parlays that I rolled together into one or something. I really need to be more careful about the bets I am placing. This was just a waste of $1.
Then we have the Eagles game. So close... This was a five leg parlay that would have paid out $10. Every single leg hit but the key one. The Eagles have pretty much been automatic this year, so this one stings a bit more than the other ones.
I also decided to throw some money down on some of the remaining bowl games. As you can see, Tulane did me good with their win over USC. Likewise Penn State put up the big win over Utah. Sadly, Illinois couldn't get things done against Mississippi State and that cost me $1 on what could have been an $8 win.
It seems like when you want to count on the Chiefs you can't. I should have put my money on Tampa Bay this week. That would have been the smarter move I guess. Who knew...
Finally, did I mention I put a bet down on some soccer? Dang you soccer and your ties. I was so close on this parlay. It would have only won me about $3, but still, a win is a win. This bet was thanks to @fullcoverbetting. He threw some knowledge down that I was able to pick up and apply here. That call on Tottenham being over 2.5 was spot on. I don't blame him for the Aston Villa thing though. Like I said, those dang draws are just so hard to call.
What a nuisance!
Hopefully I can make things right next week. Wish me luck!
