It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is just a week away for those of us in the US. It seems like we were just complaining about how hot it is (where I live) and now we are looking at possibly having a couple of inches of snow on the ground for Turkey day.
How things change! In Michigan (and probably lots of other places) they have a saying that goes something like this: "Don't like the weather? Wait 5 minutes!". Sounds really similar to something else that we are all familiar with doesn't it?
Just like the weather, the crypto markets can turn on a dime, and we have seen our fair share of that in the past week or so. Hype turns to FUD, turns to hype, rinse and repeat. I mentioned in my post the other day that interaction seems to be way down on Hive. It almost feels like even some of the big curation accounts have taken a break.
I used to wake up in the morning and have no less than 50 notifications in the Ecency app about the post that I had written the day before. This morning I woke up and I had three. That's a huge drop. That's not just upvotes either, that's comments, and notifications that some of my favorite people have posted a new post themselves.
I think part of it might be the time of year. It seems we often slow down a bit around the holidays. At least in the US, I know other countries celebrate stuff all through the year.
I think it is interesting that it is mostly the notifications in the morning that have fallen off. I mean, things are slower across the board, but it is definitely those alerts that came in overnight that have gone stagnant. That almost makes me feel like it's a regional thing. 12 time zones (or so) away from us people have just decided to take a break from Hive.
Has anyone else noticed that?
Despite all of that, I am still thankful. I move a little more slowly and I ache a little more than I used to, but I have my health. I have my family and my friends, and I have a hobby that keeps my mind sharp and my wits engaged with people from around the world.
You can't really beat that can you?
Okay, maybe a bull run could beat that, but we all know that isn't probably happening anytime soon.
I'm honestly so thankful for Hive. I was telling @ericvancewalton the other day that I used to journal quite a bit in my youth. While Hive doesn't get as personal as those writings did, I still feel like writing here serves as an outlet much as that did in the past.
I may only have two active followers, but as I think about it, I don't think that is what keeps me coming back every day. Sure, the upvotes are great too, but let's be honest, living in the US, I am not making livable wage off Hive. At least not until it hits $5 to $10 per token or so.
I keep coming back though. Every day. Typing my random thoughts into crap posts that you so generously consume, upvote, and comment on. It's somehow therapeutic for me and it is a whole lot cheaper than some of my other hobbies!
All that to say, I am thankful for you my followers as well. I am sure you are going to see a ton of posts come across your feed about being thankful in the next week or so. You might even see one or two more from me.
