I've been on the Hive blockchain for almost a year now, and I must confess, the value the various communities I've engaged in have added to my mind these few months is something I really cherish.
I took some time to identify three out of the various things that made me fall in love with HIVE and I'll like to share them with you.
1. Publishing of quality and educative contents
Unlike other web2 or web3 applications, most of the contents found in Hive are rather wholesome and educative. I describe Hive as a combination of great minds whose aim and objective is to add value to each other through interchange of encouraging ideas and perspectives. Just yesterday, I was reading a post from @tarazkp, on some of the things he consider facts, I was impressed by how he expressed his take on social media applications and how men are allowed to compete with women just because they identify as female. But I was much drawn by one of the expressions in his post where he said, "one thing we need to recognize is that there are far too much we don't know to be too confident in what we think we know". Those words got me thinking about myself. Am I too overconfident? Am I presumptuous or do I give heed to instructions? Do I listen more or do I just want to be heard?
I also love to read contents from @trucklife-family, I love how she loves nature and life. Any time I read her poems, I see areas where I need to improve as an amateur poet. I also like reading posts of @abenad, I laughed out hard when I read one of her contents some months ago about one of her mates who always portrays herself to come from a rich family but who was just faking it all along.
Many great Hivers, with great contents from creative minds. If I start to mention them time would fail me. I appreciate the efforts each and everyone of them are putting. They push me to know that I can do better as a writer and they make HIVE much more interesting to be in.
2. Hive contests and weekly prompts
Sometimes, it's not always easy to brainstorm, to think of topics to write so as to stay consistent in the Hive blockchain. This is where the Hive contests and weekly prompts come in, giving you topics and ideas on things to write about. These contests promote a spirit of healthy competition and encourage participants to do more with upvotes and tokens. I enjoy reading weekly prompts from the @neoxiancity, as a matter of fact you can join this week's prompt here, I know that the more people who join a contest, the more fun it gets to read and engage, because you get to see a variety of ideas and learn from people's experiences too.
Some days ago, I participated in a contest posted by @detlev in the @BEER community, it gave me an opportunity to share one of my favorite beer brands, to express my opinion on a football match I watched and to share some things I think about life. You can check out the post here... I also love participating in @cleanplanet activities where you get to embrace the need to @cleanyourcity. I also find their contests appealing because I find it relatable. One contest in the clean planet community focused on 'a nurse you love very well', it made me recall when I was hospitalized and how this particular Nurse Lillian was so caring and kind to me.
I love weekly contests and prompts because they are very interesting, educational and inciting.
3. The @spendHBD Initiative and the @distriator's discount
This is yet another project I enjoy in HIVE. It is a spend to earn project where you spend HBD (Hive Dollars) in any SpendHBD listed business around your locality and get cashbacks immediately from Distriator at distriator.com after payment by scanning a generated QR invoice with your HIVE keychain. I enjoy a 20% to 40% discount in purchases I make using my Hive keychain. As a matter of fact, many Hivers in my city are now Hive spenders with the SpendHBD project.
I am a proud member of the @shokin team, a group of lovely souls headed by @fokusnow. These Hive shoppers have turned to friends, wholesome friends at that. Every weekend we visit one of these listed businesses and make purchases as a group and earn discounts, each and everyone of us. I've been able to purchase a power bank, shop for groceries and provisions, buy breakfasts, lunch and take home meals, and many more with this project. I love this project!
Here's my badge as a full member of the ShoKin team..
There are many more privileges to enjoy in Hive but since @theycallmedan asked for three, I'll like to drop my pen. You can still join the contest here.. and tell us three reasons why you like Hive.
I invite my friends who haven't been making good use of this blockchain to wake up from their slumber and follow the moving train.
I enjoy a sound mind being in Hive because there's no fear of coming across gross contents that are irritating to the eyes or even hate comments or speeches bombarding my posts or that of others.
I gave Hive a high Five, you could do that too!!. I love you all.
