Ganes in our home. Games that will get a new home ! A new home in school.
Its almost the end of the school year. Time flies by so fast !! The kids in the Netherlands get summer break from date 10 July. In the weeks to that date, parents are asked to help clean toys, help clean the classrooms and the books. This year the books and games were evaluated and the parents were asked if they had games to share because they were collecting dust in their homes.
Well dusty games here and yes guilty as charged. We have many and yet so little time to play them. And when there is time the online games , we , Xbox , ps4 and Nintendo are favorite for the kids these days.
We do play monopoly, cards and backgammon but not on a daily basis. And on holidays that is more than in our daily lives.
We enjoy screenless boardgames more than. But now we have to go thoroughly through the games accumulated in our home. And for the cause I also asked my mum to look for what they still have in my old room in the house where I grew up in.
The fact that this request came from school at this moment is the best place where the games can have a second life with other kids.
I collected all the ones with a age sign up to 9 years old. Those ones could go and when the first pile is done I bagged it up in a plastic bag for moving them to school.
What I see is that most games are in huge boxes. When this is done I will for sure have more space. Space to clean and have rearranged, two flies with one stone ehhh action.
The tower of Pisa game, D loved playing that one. Wild life question quest, brainboost, kwartet, countries game, so many that I loved seeing again. Now all packed up to go to their new home. With so many games, I think many classrooms can have some nee additions to be played with. I trew in a bag of little toy cars because that is a waste to throw away.
It took two hours and left me with a great feeling. I love thrifting and recycling and I think this is a great way to give games a second life. The school doesn’t have to buy games and spend money. Charity in a different way!
Games are always fun even when you ah E to say goodbye to them.
The bags are ready to be gifted tomorrow.
What do you dimwits “old boardgames” ?
