Can love ever be enough? When it comes to making a decision on who you’ll spend forever with, shouldn’t love be all the assurances that you need? After all, love solves everything, no matter how bad things get, as long as you guys are in love, you can pull through any mess together. That is how it should be, nothing should be able to come between you and the person that you’re in love with.
Sadly though, in reality, it’s a different case altogether. Love is sweet, but so many factors come into play to dilute it. If care is not taken, the same factors can totally eradicate the love altogether. That’s how bad it can be. From financial troubles, different personalities, convictions… all these that are displayed over the years that and up revealing who exactly we’ve hitched ourselves to.
So, am I pro-divorce? Hell yeah! I’m a huge supporter of “If your head no fit carry am, then leave am!” I don’t subscribe to the idea of people remaining with partners who mess with their mental health or don’t help them out in any way. Once your heart is no longer in it, then run! It’s as simple as that.
So many people keep wondering why the marriages of our parents lasted more than the marriages of today, but the answer to that is not farfetched. It’s a totally different generation of people. Back then, many people preferred to stay in unhappy marriages because of their kids, because of what people would say if they got divorced, because of pressure from family members. And somehow, they were able to keep the actual reasons from their children.
In this generation, people are learning better than to care what people will say. That’s why someone can casually call off a wedding less than a month to D-Day because of her peace of mind. You cannot say in unhappy relationships simply because of what you think people will say. They will talk, but when they see that you no send their papa, they’ll learn to mind their business.
Why am I saying all this? It leads me to the topic of discussion for today. Should love be enough? Love should be enough, but sadly that’s not the case. We have to learn to apply logic and small sense when dealing with all this. His is usually to avoid a mess down the line. Many people see prenups as a contingency in case one partner leaves the other, many people are putting all down to money.
But it’s more than that... way more than that. I see it as a way of putting all your cards upfront before going into a committed relationship. It doesn’t mean that you’re going into the relationship while being scared that it would end in divorce, however, it also means that you’re accepting the fact that you’re human and anything can happen.
It could feel like a test of loyalty, but it’s not just that. However, many of us have seen instances where people simply come under the disguise of love just because they want divorce settlements. This happens to both males and females in relationships. You’ll be married, thinking that all is well with your world, and then you’ll be hit with a divorce. Turns out they just want your money. Honestly, marriage is a risky venture, and when you choose to get married, it’d be best to protect yourself. Love is not enough! Love is never enough!! Love can never be enough!
You and your partner can sit down and talk about hi, it should be something you both will be comfortable with moving forward. The terms and conditions of the prenup will be clearly stated within it and it must be one that both partners will be comfortable with. If they can see through all the love and realize that it’s all for their own good, then maybe they’ll be able to make it work. That’s for sure.
