Jobs, funny how this contest came on just now that I'm literally jobless. I just left college and it's wild out here, job hunting is very different than the rabbits my cousins and I chased while we were kids.
I've always had something for office assistant jobs even being in the science field myself. I think I would love learning more while working, hard yes, but it makes it more fun and I would gain more experience.
' Set It Up ' is a movie that reminds me of myself and my thesis supervisor when I was at the final stages of college. Like I said I'm currently unemployed, but I still know a thing or two about that line of job giving the way I worked with my thesis supervisor.
The gap between employees and employers especially in cooperate work places is wide, very wide as everything is done or has to be done professionally. What I love about this movie is that it shows the gap can be mediated. We are all humans and as such a plagued with different problems, so it becomes easier to reach the problems sometimes when the human proves difficult.
I hope to be employed soon, and someday be an employer, these problem solving nature of assistants will be a backbone in my workforce. Even interns ought to be viewed as such, and given over to supervisors.
Another thing I hope to mention is that employers should make employees feel good about themselves especially after accomplishing a feat. I remember while I was in school, then I was working as a teacher for an evening school, short story is I designed another course that made the assimilation of other learning that was going on.
My immediate boss saw that as a threat to the organisation if not for the acknowledgement from the owner I would have been seen as a black sheep by my colleagues. That small pat on the shoulders helps alot.
In this movie Charlie and Harper never got that from their bosses not untill they got close enough beyond just Boss and assistance relationship. As I send more emails this week, I have in mind not to be employed in an organisation where I'll be in constant terror as that would reduce my growth and make me feel inferior.
