Hello my Hive family.
Today I want to share my first experience as a mother and also want to buttress the essence of exclusive breastfeeding to our adorables.
#MY EXPERIENCE.
On this beautiful day 14 years ago,on my EDD(expected day of delivery) I went to the hospital to deliver my baby,on getting there the nurses quickly attended to me by first taking my details which includes checking my temperature, weight, blood pressure etc, after which i was taken into the delivery room but I call it FAVOUR ROOM.
Being my first child(delivery) the experience was not palatable at all,so when the doctor came in,he asked me to ensure i follow his instructions which i did to an extent but when the pain was unbearable,I had to push the baby out even when he asked me not to, immediately my princess was out,the whole pains i was having just vanished and the joy of a baby filled my heart.
Immediately the nurses were done with cleaning my beautiful princess, they gave her to me to breastfeed,we know that medically the first yellowish milk from the mother is very good for the child, but unfortunately for me then, nothing was coming out,I was not lactating at all and my baby was so hungry and crying so badly.
The cry of my baby really pierced my heart so i pleaded with my husband to help me to get infant baby food(Milk), which the nurses must not be aware of.
So immediately my husband left to the superstore, one of the nurse prepared glucose water for my baby pending when i will start lactating but my hungry and crying baby refused the taking it and continued crying, she eventually slept off in the process.
I was patiently waiting for my husband to return from the store with the baby milk so i can prepare and feed my baby very well,...hmmm but low and behold my husband came back empty handed without the baby milk but instead he was holding a bigger tin of Glucose. I asked him what was his reason and he said" When i got to the store,i asked the grocer to kindly give him baby milk for a day old,and the grocer asked him if the mother of the baby is late, he replied and said 'God forbid!!my wife is not dead but she is not lactating well and my baby is really crying,so i came to get baby milk so she can be fed with pending when my wife will start lactating very well.
Then the grocer gave him glucose, gave a a dozen of three crown milk(12tins liquid) and gave instructions that he should prepare pap and add a tin of milk to it and give me to take(morning, afternoon, night) and that we should continue with water and glucose for our baby till my lactation starts fully.
I was just speechless but i heed to the advice, and the next day,i started lactating and i started breastfeeding my baby, although it was so painful at the initial stage but as time goes on,the pains stopped.
So my beautiful baby was on breast milk only for the first six months, without water or baby milk, just like the nurses and the grocer advised, it was a great time of bonding between mother and child.
EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING
Exclusive breastfeeding is a process where the baby is on breast milk alone for the first six months,no giving of the baby water,or any other milk.
We all know that medically the breast milk has all the required NUTRITIONAL NEEDS that our baby needs for effective growth.
Exclusive breastfeeding helps to keep our baby 100% immune against all sickness, infection and disease.
It also makes them to be so smart, intelligent and very active.
I want to encourage our mothers to ensure that we breastfeed our kids for at least six months on exclusive breastfeeding before introducing any other kind of food to them.
May God continue to keep and protect our children 🙏.
