Today I was able to enjoy the weather with my loved ones. Corona had me slow down a bit lately but the sun dragged me out today.
We took a nice stroll through Joys favorite part of the woods. There are small trails and he just loves to get positioned and then runs down like the fastest he can. Joy is 9 years of age and a rescue from France. We got him with several health issues, so he can't run a lot. That he is able to run period is a miracle for itself and I am happy to see him enjoy himself so much. Isn't he the cutest?
Being a Bulldog Joy has to have water ready every other minute, especially when the sun is out. Due to the short nose he cannot cool himself down like dogs with long snouts can do. They have issues breathing and overheat quickly. That is why he can't run for a long time as well.
Now in his favorite part of the wood there is a little water reservoir which works as his private pool. He discovered water when we adopted him and believe it or not, Bulldogs enjoy water a lot. Just watch out for them.
Joy likes to play fetch in the water or just to run around like a boar. He tried to swim the last years but we have to take it easy with him. His age he is prone to heart attacks, my beloved Molly died of that cause. So I am happy to see him splash around, still being the hero of the hood with his own pool.
Imagine the ladies, Joys second name is Romeo. To be precise, we named him Joy Brutus Romeo. And with this you all stay safe and sound.
