A few days ago, I was scrolling through my WhatsApp status, this is something I rarely do cos I have no time but I guess I have some time to spare that day, that was where I came across Udezee status.

He mentioned 3 things.

  • If you are my acquaintance, do not ask me to borrow you money.

  • If you are my friend, do not bill me.

  • If we have something good going on together like business, do not use that opportunity to beg me for money.

I see the wisdom in his write-up because many people have used begging to ruin a good relationship, they can literally beg for anything, and they will even ask for unimportant things.

It reminds me of one that happened to me 3 years ago when I wrote WAEC, I met this boy there and I liked him, so I wanted to help him by showing him the way to make money rather than keep giving him crumbs but this boy fumbled, I don't know what he went to tell his mother at home but she started calling me.

Not up to two days later she billed me and the reason was ridiculous, so she called me to tell me that she was expecting some visitors that day and she didn't have money to entertain them, I should please send her money, I find her reason so stupid but I have a policy of not turning down someone for the first time, even If I can't give all that they ask for, I will still turn up with what I can let go of, so I sent her 3000 Naira.

I was confused that day cos why would you beg for money to entertain visitors, It was weird and funny at the same time, a few days after that, she called again to thank me for the other day and also to tell me she was an actress and she would love it if I can support her next movie, Omo what kind of thing is this, All that she was doing made me change my mind about her son, I cut him off and stop entertaining him in my place but that didn't stop the mother and the son from texting me to give them money and it got to the point that I had to text her to stop asking me for money and also block her and the son.

She ruined the relationship I was trying to build with her son and also it seems her son is just like her too.... We have many people like this

Another set of people I dislike are those who ask you for help in the form of borrowing money but when it is time to pay, they switch up with silly reasons, some will say you are more than that money and you should forget it, some will start ignoring you, some will turn it to violence, the first set I find that very annoying, no matter how rich your friend is, borrow me money is different from give me money, always return borrowed stuff! it will make your friend like and trust you more with their funds, is it a friend you borrowed money from and didn't return it that you want to partner up with in business, no way!

The rule still stands, only borrow friends or people what you can afford to lose but in some cases, you can break your own rule if the person is so dear to you, it is their action that will determine if they will continue to be your dear or a lesson.

Some people are shameless and ask for money all the time. In my case I don't try to show generosity and I give money others in few cases only. So, people comes to me to ask for help when they have no options and I help them if capable.

if shame was a name of a person, they deserved to be named that

This your experience is very true, I have a friend like this he is always begging me for urgent money, even when he knows how things are, he never gets tired of begging, the one that happened 3 days ago I just ignore him like he never exist. It's always so annoying

cut off from such people, dont let him know too much about you cos they are desperate and dangerous.

There’s a girl I really liked and I took her as my best friend because she gives me cool advices whenever I am in need of some but she ruined the relationship because she was always begging for money
I hated that

people take things for granted

I don't mind the people I'm close to, billing me. But borrowing money? Perhaps not. In reality, if a person is a friend indeed, then you wouldn't have to be the only one not wanting to lose the friendship because of something like money. It just gets to show they aren't really a lot of true friends in life

I am okay with friends borrowing money from me as long as they return it, cos if they don't, that will be the first and the last I lend money to such a person...

yea if they truly care about the friendship, they wont just demands without a good reason
