Worst trip ever

Earlier in November, the gym I go to workout announced their end-of-the-year party which is dated December 14th, it costs 30 000 for the men and 25 000 for the ladies and it is going to take place on the beach, I have been thinking of going to the beach cos I promised my babe I will take her, so this gym party is like using 1 stone to kill 2 birds cos I can attend their party and also fulfill my promise of taking her to the beach.

Yesterday was the day. One thing I hate about Nigerians is that they do not keep to time when a program is supposed to start at 8 a.m.m, you will see people leaving their houses by that same 8. am but for this event, it was the other way round, the organizers ruined a lot of things, we were told to come by 9 a.m. as that is when the bus will leave for the destination, and we were the first person to get there by 8:45a.m only to hear that they are still cooking, imagine still cooking around that time when it is just 15 minutes away to the time of departure, the others were not around too but they started showing up one by one around that past 10a.m, Nigerians will always be Nigerians, I still wonder if there was a mistake while I was being delivered to this country.

To cut it short, before 11 a.m., all the gym members were around and that was when the organizers dropped the bomb that we would be leaving by 1, from 9 to 1, 4 hours of my time wasted! I was already getting annoyed but I kept my cool and determined not to go anymore if they were not ready by 2, we left the gym by past 1 and got to the location which was the beach by past 3 and we still had to wait outside again for the organizers for about 30 minutes to arrive so they can get us the ticket to enter...

I dash to the ocean to have some fun with the Ocean before they come to call on some of us that the party is about to start, I left reluctantly and by the time I got there, the chairs were already full. We had to stand again for like 20 minutes before the organizers went to get a chair, they shared food but I already bought food with my money when we were still at the gym, so I was full and could not eat their food, I only drank 2 drinks and that was it... I went to the swimming pool and played there for an hour or more.

Now we ae getting to the most annoying part which was the time to go home, Two coastal buses and 1 small bus brought us there but when it was time to go home around 9, they said one of the buses was gone, it was only 1 coastal and the small one that is there, does that make any sense when you know people would want to go home, The first set of people were lucky to go with the small bus, we were among the first set but wasn't lucky to get in cos it was full, when it was time for the second bus, people started to rush out of the beach, the same people they have been calling since that we should go home and they refused, well because the bus could not contain all of us, we had to wait for the other bus which arrived very late and we started the journey back home by 12a.m!

There were still a lot of vehicles outside and we were stuck in traffic for like 1 to 5 minutes so it didn't feel unsafe, we arrived at the gym at 1:46a.m, the street was empty and there was no keke napep to take us to our destination, it is very unsafe to trek at that ungodly hour, but I already calculated all this and made a deal with the bus driver and he accepted to drop us off at my street, others followed and he did just that... The main gate of my street was already locked but I knocked and the security came to open it, I tried explaining that my house was just at the front but he was not bothered and just opened the gate, maybe he knew me or my babe already I can't tell, I have already called our gate man that I was stuck in traffic and I would got home late so immediately I called him that I was around, he came to open the gate and that was how I landed in my apartment.

I regret paying for the trip for so many reasons

  • Not organized properly

  • late night journey which cost me more cos I had to settle the driver on my own.

  • The organizer treated some people better in terms of food and drinks cos she knew them, that is bullshit cos we all paid the same amount of money.

That was my first ever late-night trip and I hope such never happens again because I am someone who doesn't like risking his life and late late-night trip is one bloody risk. It is 100 percent certain that I won't ever pay for any of their parties again

I'm used to attend stuffs like this. I think the unsafe night journey is probably the worst of them all, that's because a person can potentially go from wanting to go and enjoy themselves to landing into the den of kidnappers or thieves.

the whole street was empty, we saw two smokers when we got to our street gate, I wondered what they were looking for that night... it is very easy to fall into the hands of the evil ones cos the night is their active time.

Mehn, let's be factual, I did this a lot in the past, and it was by the grace of God, that nothing really happened. Some of those smokers can be criminals

lucky you man, my instinct tells me they are criminals but they could not confront us cos we were already in front of the gate, and a security man was already coming towards us

The organisers messed up big time abeg.
Their own is too much.
To me they were just focused on collecting the money and not making it pleasant and enjoyable.
Which will even make you to attend it next time and even introduce more people to join.

they messed up, there are others also stating they regret paying and embarking on the journey, a good party should start early especially if it is not an all-night out party... they should not expect many people to turn up next year.

The time difference delay is much.

They don't even look like people ready to organise something like that again.

they will, it is a yearly thing but i wont go

I hope they change

Based on how you described I think it was not worthy to visit there for free let alone paying money for it. I think you won't go again if the organizer goes to another event.

Never!

Organizers that really aren't organized lol. I'm sure many felt the same way and will probably not attend again if another event is announced. The time difference part is probably the most frustrating experience, waiting from 9am to 1pm!?
