Recently we went to a running event with Nelson. It is called Hard Dog Race, a canicross competition with similarities of a Spartan race. Besides running up and downhill a lot, there were 22 obstacles to go through. The obstacles were of all kinds, some needed strength, some agility and some problem solving. All of them was designed with the dogs in mind, so it wasn't dangerous for them, and the owners got to experience the other side of some agility obstacles designed for dogs 😅
We started the whole race with some swimming
There was no shortage of water, Yes, this was filled with water.
The organizers expected hot weather, so they made sure we are wet all the time, so the dogs don't overheat. However, it was 14 Celsius and cloudy, but we didn't mind, it was perfect running weather.
The track had 500 m of elevation and was 10 km long. We didn't ran too much on flat surfaces 😬
We are going to come back here to hike for sure.
There were some clever obstacles like above. Here Nelson waited in the kennel while I was climbing over the top and there was no plank there as you might think. There was also a long pitch black water tunnel, which was a challenge, and a maze to go through with a blindfold.
An obstacle 10 m before the finishline just for good measures.
Lots of crawling in dirt.
Tired and proud.
Overall this was a fun event with lots of dogs. Even Nelson was tired at the end, which is quite an achievement.
There were plenty of professional photographers on the event, the photos are freely available on the events facebook page.
