Vernonia amygdalina "Bitter Leaf"

This is one of the plants that I love so much because it can be used for many purposes.

The Vernonia amygdalina is a plant that has a small shrub and it grows majorly in tropical Africa. It's also in the class of the daisy family. This plant grows to a height of 2-5 m and the leaves are elliptical in nature and are up to 20 cm in length. Why they call it bitter leaf is better because of its bitter taste both in the leaf and the shrub.

  • Uses

In Africa, is mainly used for cooking of soup, you can also wash it and drink the water when you are sick of malaria and other sickness like running of your stomach, etc.

It's very rich in quinine and compounds that can clean the liver, lymphatic system, and lungs and can also cure malaria.

It can also help those people that want to lose weight because of the nutrients that it contains such as iron, fiber, carbohydrate, and zinc.
