In this section, we talked about "How to set your voting weight". I love the way most of our newbies go on with their activities on the Blockchain, but at the same time, they make end up harming their accounts. You know that on web2 platforms you can just click on the like button ✅ anytime you like, so I did notice that on some of the new users.

Anytime they sees your thread the like, or when you reply on their threads, they will just push the like button as they do on other web2 platforms. Their intentions was clear because they are doing it as a way of appreciating your activities, but at same time, they need to do it wisely in other to protect their accounts from running our of voting power (VP).

Part 1/6:

Understanding Voting Power on the Blockchain

Greetings to our dear friends! We welcome you to another insightful episode of "Another Day on Leo." This program is dedicated to educating new users about various aspects of blockchain technology and how to navigate activities associated with it.

As we delve into today's topic, we will focus on voting power, a key component of participating effectively in blockchain platforms. Many new users often treat voting as a trivial action, akin to clicking "like" on traditional social media platforms. However, on blockchain systems, the process of voting carries significant weight and implications.

The Significance of Voting Power

Part 2/6:

When engaging with blockchain activities, each interaction, including voting, utilizes a resource known as voting power. Unlike the simplistic "like" on Web 2.0, where the action may feel inconsequential, every vote on decentralized platforms equates to a portion of your accumulated power. It is crucial for new users to recognize that indiscriminate clicking can severely deplete their voting power, especially for those who have not yet accumulated substantial stakes in their accounts.

For beginner users, it's advisable to conserve voting power until they can enhance it by acquiring more resources—both in terms of low and high voting power. This strategy ensures they are well-equipped to make a more meaningful impact once their resources have increased.

An Overview of the Voting Process

Part 3/6:

In our session today, we will walk you through the process of setting your voting weight, a fundamental step in managing your voting power efficiently.

  1. Navigating the Interface: We will utilize both Ino and EC front-end platforms to engage with user activities. It's essential to note that responses to new users often appear differently across these platforms.

  2. Reviewing Accounts: Observing the voting weights of other users can provide useful insights. For instance, analyzing a new user's account may reveal that their voting power is significantly diminished. As a community, we should encourage new members to suspend their voting activities momentarily, allowing them to gather necessary resources to maximize the benefit of their votes.

Setting Your Voting Weight

Part 4/6:

Learning how to set your voting weight is crucial for managing your blockchain engagement effectively.

  • Accessing Settings: You can adjust your voting weight by navigating to the settings option on your profile. Here, you will find the option to set voting weight for various activities, such as posts and trades.

  • Setting Recommended Percentages: A practical approach for users with lower voting power is to allocate a smaller percentage of their voting weight for activities. For example, one might set the voting weight for trades at 2% and for posts at 5%. This strategy prevents users from exhausting their voting power too quickly, allowing them to engage meaningfully over longer periods.

Part 5/6:

  • Saving Your Changes: After adjustments are made, don’t forget to save your settings. This action is vital to ensure that all configurations are applied and functional for your future engagements.

Engaging Meaningfully on the Platform

After successfully setting your voting weights, interacting by liking posts should reflect your designated percentage. By doing so, users can be assured that they are engaging with their resources strategically.

As we wrap up this episode, it’s essential to remember that conserving and managing your voting power is not just beneficial for personal engagement but also contributes to the vibrancy and health of the community.

Part 6/6:

Thank you for joining us today on "Another Day on Leo." We are here to support new users in their blockchain journey. Engage with the community, utilize your voting power wisely, and remember, your participation matters. Have a wonderful day ahead, and we look forward to seeing you in our future activities!
