My name is Camillus C. Agu (@cammy-cardo). This is my first post in EcoTrain as a newbie. I specifically choose to compose a short drama of Two scenes to participate in the EcoTrain question of the week, Season 9.8.
The Title of the drama is ‘MUST PEOPLE DIE?’ The drama is about a very promising handsome young man who recalling of several death experiences in his life decided to put forward this question before God, "must people die?"
SCENE ONE
One Sunday evening, Cammy was on his way going to visit his friend and classmate Victor who was ill. As he was approaching Victor's house, he saw people coming out with tears on their faces. Cammy, talking to himself as he enters the compound marked with grave silence, said:
Cammy: Oh my God! What is happening here? Why is everyone in a cold foot? What has happened? Has Victor died? God forbid!
Getting to the sitting room where the Victor's parents and other people were sitting in silence. One in his right sense must decode the atmosphere which does not call for greetings at all. Cammy stood still with tears dropping and jaw shaking, gently approached Marian (Victor's elder sister) and whispered to her ear.
Cammy: Please, can we just see outside?
Marian: Okay!
As they went outside.
Cammy: Marian, please tell me that it's not true. How come? What happened?
Marian: Hmmmm! Nothing much, just that Victor has left us.
Cammy: Ewoo! God why Victor and at this time?
Marian: Anyway, it is God's will and we mere mortals have no right to question the will of God.
Cammy: My dear, please take heart Okay! I have to go now because I can't see your parents in this situation now. I will come back tomorrow morning to see them.
Marian: It's Okay! Thanks so much.
SCENE TWO
From that moment, Cammy could not accept the reality that Victor is dead. This thought preoccupied his memory till around 2:45am when he unconsciously responded to the call of nature and as he was deep down sleeping, he had a dream. In that dream he found himself lonely in a very beautiful environment decorated with Rose flowers and pure gold. As he was about to enter the main gate, a little Child appeared from nowhere and asked him.
Little Child: Hello young man! What are you doing here crying and all alone?

Cammy: I want to see God. I was told that this is where He lives and I will love to see him.
Little Child: Why do you want to see God who is all mighty, all powerful and all knowing?
Cammy: Where I was coming from, I was told that He has an answer to all human questions and I just have Two questions for him.
Little Child: I have seen how sincere and worried you are, I will grant you your wish. Now, go close to the gate and the gate will open for you and then enter.
Immediately Cammy approached the gate, it opened, and he entered. The gate closed immediately. All Cammy could see was objects in human form putting on immaculate White Robs. The place is more beautiful than the outside of the gate. Then, he approached one of the objects in human form and ask.
Cammy: Please are you God?
Object in human form: No, I am not God, but I will show you where He is. Come along with me.
And Cammy followed and getting to a particular small room, the Object in human form said.

Object in human form: Cammy, sit here and stop crying, God will soon come and attend to you.
Cammy: Okay Sir!
Not quite long when Cammy began feeling a gentle breeze blowing in the small room and suddenly there came a very bright light all over the room that he could not even locate the exit door. He was afraid and bent his face to the ground and a deep voice came.
God: Welcome my son! I am the God who you are searching for. The One who has answers to everything question you can think of. I have seen that you have Two questions bordering you. I will leave you with the choice of asking me the most important one troubling your mind.
Cammy: Please God, can you grant me 2 minutes to make up my mind on which one to go ask?
God: Yes, my son! I respect man's freewill. So, take your 2 minutes.
After 2 minutes, a deep voice came as if a huge old man was clearing his throat.
God: You can now ask your question.
Cammy: God, must people die?.
God: Son, why do you allow such a question to trouble you mind?
Cammy: All through my life I have been hearing cries of people losing their love ones, people who are so dear to them. Just last Three weeks, I lost a woman so dear to me and the most recent one is the death of my friend Victor.
God: I will answer your question with the following points:
- My son, I created human beings to love me, serve me, live in the world and come back to me here in heaven. I so desire that my people should come to me and rest from their world struggles and sufferings. This is for those who truly worship me in truth and in spirit. When I created your first parents (Adam and Eve) I commanded them to reproduce people of their kind. And with that the population of the world continues to grow. My son, just imagine that I stopped people from dying for 50 years, let me ask you, how will the world be?
Cammy: Everywhere will be filled with people.
God: You answered correctly.
- My son, the world that I created is not an eternal dwelling place for human beings. It is just a ‘spactio’ temporal place where one works out his/or her salvation or damnation. People dying should serve the purpose of reminding them about the reality and inevitability of death even as they enjoy the pleasures of the world.
- I alone have the power to give life and to take it at will. Many people live their life as if they are the author of their life. Death and its fear make man humble to the Supernatural reality called God and reminds them of their mortality.
- And experience of someone's death should remind you of your own death. Have you seen where they are burying someone before and taken a closer look as they are lowering the person in the grave?
Cammy: Yes God, I have seen!
God: What do you see?
Cammy: Only the dead body in a casket.
God: You answered correctly. This tells you about the frivolous nature of material things. No matter how wealthy you are, how many cars, houses you have etc., they all end in the world. Most people spend fortune taking care and giving attention to their body, just for the termites to enjoy at the end. Finally, my son, what do you see as you were being led into this abode of mine?
Cammy: I saw objects in human form innumerable to count and all are dress in white robes and if I may ask, who are they?
God: They are my Angels and Saints.
Cammy: I have heard of the Angels, what about the saints?
God: They are those who when they were humans, long to hear my words, heard it, meditated and practiced it in their daily lives and died with it. Most of them were killed because they refused to deny me and my teachings while in the world.
Cammy filled with so much happiness ask God.
Cammy: Please God, is Victor here?
God: My son, this question is not important for you. Your friend Victor has lived and fulfilled the mission for which I sent him into the world and he is now resting. Try your best to be here when you die.
Cammy: I will, by your grace for I know that your grace is sufficient for me.
God looked steadily at him and loved him. Immediately, Cammy heard his name Cammy! Cammy!! Cammy!!! He jumped up from his bed and it was his mother calling him to wake-up for the day is dawn.
