Learning lessons the hard way

🐲 Brawl Report 🐲

Last Brawl was a great showing for the Calzones and me personally as well. With only four battles this time around I wasn't going to be be able to come up with six wins again. I have to say the competition this Brawl was tough and it wasn't going to be easy to put up another good result.

This battle was not a win for me, but I have to share it due to the great play by my opponent. Typically I like to break down my cards and choices from a battle, but it is the first three card smy opponent choose this battle that are the interesting discussion.

CARD	WHAT"S THE PLAY?
	Taunt can always be an interesting play, but it is the synergy with the next card that makes this play brilliant.
	A genius move placing Martyr in the second position with a Taunt card in front and the explosive Weaponry ruleset.
	Quora is always strong, but when the Martyr buff kicks in it is even beefier.

That synergy of using blast against me was brilliant. Look how it plays out in the first few rounds...

Round 1 — Queen Mycelia takes out Flinger with Blast damage and my opponents Slipspawn and Quora are bumped up to four magic damage each. Things still don't look too bleak for me as my Kinjo has allowed me to not lose any cards yet.

Round 2 — My opponents Quora quickly heals to a new high of twelve health and their Slipspawn quickly takes out my Unicorn. My Kinjo is taken out by Queen and my Queen takes out Slipspawn. Things still seem fairly even at the end of the round, but my opponents Quora still has that Martyr advantage hanging over my head.

Round 3 — My Quora gets a Bloodlust boost thanks to a Blast kill and things actually look in my favor at this point. I've evened up our Quoras and have an extra card on the battle field. My Queen falls to Blast damage and it is followed up by my opponent's Queen doing the same.

Round 4 — Here's where it all falls apart. My opponent's Quora takes out mine as well as Princess thanks to Blast damage. That still leaves Quora's melee attack to finish me off.

That Martyr placement was brilliant!

I took a lot of close losses this Brawl, but at the end of the day they are still losses. I've got to do better than that! What I will take from this beat down is some good lessons. The martyr play above is why I enjoy playing this game and learning from even tough beat downs as this. It's about learning and growing and coming back next battle better. The Calzones as a whole didn't perform much better. It was s tough Brawl so hopefully we can all find some lessons and come back stronger and better next Brawl.
