Second Brawl in the Gold Modern Fray

After last week's disappointing finish with my first Brawl fighting in the Gold Modern fray I was determined to show I could perform at the higher level. I am confident in my collection with a few extra rentals to boost its strength, so I just needed to bring my A game in the strategy department...
It's not always about the highest level cards

Without context my opponent has an advantage with a level three Jacek to my level one Contessa. The needed context is that the rulesets Going the Distance and Equalizer mean it is going to be a battle of range cards with the same base health. Fairly quickly you can see my opponent's mistakes. I've taken away a point of damage from each of my opponent's cards with Contessa's debuff and my opponent has half the base health with three cards to my six. While each of my opponent's cards are powerful, they cannot overcome the large health disadvantage and the battle is quickly over in my favor.
🎉 🎉 4—1. That's what I'm talking about! 🎉 🎉
I don't expect to always perform this well in the Gold fray, but it is good to know I won't always be getting stomped. It is also good to know I don't need to infuse my collection with a large investment to stay competitive. Hopefully next Brawl will go well and I'll start to gain some real confidence in my new fray.
Looking at the guild as a whole we pulled out another fourth place finish. Not our best finish, but a solid 129 total points and we are consistently staying out of the bottom half of finishers! THings are looking up for the Calzones and we have our eye on building up to tier 3 ASAP.
