This is my first post in this community where I have found beautiful places and I have learned how they do their shopping in regions far away from mine.

Today I wanted to bring to you one of the traditional markets in Venezuela, more specifically in Caracas, it is the Art Network Craft Market. Every December they open fairs of unique objects where artisans from all parts of the country gather to trade with beautiful works product of their hard work, demonstrating that, despite the adversities, creativity is the mechanism and the reason for not losing sanity in our country.

Established in the cultural center of my city, where many go to consume culture, to be more precise in the so-called Eje del Buen Vivir, a space for recreation where concerts are presented and where, in addition, a varied gastronomic offer is offered and you can enjoy cocktails, natural juices and other spirits.

When I arrived at the place I found a presentation of an artisan of the Wayúu ethnic group about their culture and the mystique of work, which was very emotional for me, because I feel hopelessly linked to this Venezuelan indigenous community, she was also offering her incredible woven bags, as a child I had many beautiful pompoms guajiros, I hope someday to be the proud owner of one of their crafts.

The fair was quite diverse, I found almost everything, from musical instruments, costumes, incredible wooden toys, leather work (of which my boyfriend is a friend of the artist who makes them and owns some of his most representative works), there is even a stand with exclusive sales of products inspired by the iconography of the Diablos de Yare, an ancient Venezuelan tradition.

As I was in the place in the early hours of the morning, it was not very crowded, I imagine that during the weekend shoppers will attend to do their Christmas shopping. I was rewarded with the ring that my boyfriend gave me with the mask of a Yare devil.

I also shared with my Graphic Arts teacher from the Cristobal Rojas School of Art, who offered his graphics and three-dimensional kaleidoscopic works based on his drawings. Very beautiful.

The wooden toys deserve a separate mention, elaborated with a magnificent delicacy and incredible colors, they are not common toys, many have mechanisms that almost perpetuate the movement, with a colorful selection of Venezuelan references, such as the Simon Bolivar riding that filled my heart with joy.

A man who made maracas and other musical instruments surprised me with a name I had never heard before: Baba de rana, referring to a seed with which he fills his maracas once they are dry, there we met different types of maracas, all very beautiful and with an unparalleled brightness.

And I have already decided that I want a handmade leather sandal, the craftsmanship has the advantage of not looking like any other, even those made by the same hands, because not being made in series each one has the essence of the moment and the disposition of the artist.

The rag dolls were wonderful, the author explained to me that they were made with the modernized sack technique, I told her that I had already seen her work in exhibitions, I even did another post about rag dolls that you can see here.

I hope that many people can approach and support these artisans who create these wonderful works and fill with illusion people and children alike, leaving their mark with the work of their hands.

Nice crafts! It's incredible to see so many different kinds but seems like everything is still connected. Really promotes culture!

Yes, they are beautiful, the crafts depend a lot, their aesthetics and construction) of the territory to which they are attached, the soul of a people, so we can notice a certain invisible line that unites them, greetings!

The crafts come from all parts of Venezuela, that's what makes this fair so rich, it is the representation of an entire country, I would like to see it more nourished! Thank you for your comment, a beautiful embrace!
