Hi, for today’s sketch I did a little painting with my colour pencils of the Naga Warrior. Over time I have made a number of this character and every one of them is unique.
For this particular one I used a reference who was fanning herself. I change the direction of her hand and face as well as the Fan. I turned the fan into a sword and wasn’t too sure I got the placement right but I pressed on anyway. I then drew the interior part of her shield on her right hand. The funny thing is, that part of the shield is what is also visible in the reference card I used. I was so happy that I didn’t have to conjure something else. You see at first I wanted the shield to be on her left arm and face you but if I had done that, you wouldn’t be able to see a great part of her outfit so the obvious choice was what I went with and it saved me some time too.
After I started colouring the figure I noticed I didn’t have the exact colour of her hair in my palette so I had to improvise. I used what was available and didn’t go all dark.
To achieve this beauty I made use of different shades of colour; green, blue, yellow, black, orange, red, brown and some ash.
