I'm never regretting it.

I have given a talk a few times about my university days and for one reason I haven't pointed out the one thing that I relished most as a student with the prompt of the @hive-learners community, I would be able to share with you my dearest readers that one thing that I enjoyed most as a student.

Welcome to my blog, my name is Cesca Jove and my chronology goes like this;

I have always wanted to go to university so badly to study Financial Accounting because it was my passion and career path back in secondary school. I have written jamb thrice, desiring to get admission to the university of my preference until the fourth time. If only that jamb could last for two years that would be very much easier to re-register again for post utme.

Finally, I got admission to my alternative institution and I was given my favorite course. That was the main purpose that made me leave home, I can't even settle for less at all. It was either Accounting or Nothing! In some life-challenging situations, a person has two or more reasons why they carry out an action based on their interest.

Firstly, I wanted to be granted my field of discipline and secondly, I want to be able to leave home for good knowing fully well that I am out there to pursue my career rather than just pursue a random course that isn't my choice. When I got the admission, I proceeded by paying up the integral fees required as a newly admitted student.

Then the hostel section came up and I declined it several times. My family wanted me to go for a hostel but Cesca wanted an apartment. I needed space! Unfortunately for them, I got an apartment. That was how I started taking responsibility for myself, I made decisions for myself and I went out there to work for it. I had my peace, I had my space and I had my sanity.

Sometimes, I almost want to regret this apartment decision because of the responsibility attached to it like paying rent, utility bills, and other miscellaneous expenses but when I think of the peace that I have at the moment, I would be appreciative once more for having my space and making such decisions.

And I know so well that had it not been this educational aspect, I wouldn't have had this apartment which I longed so much for because I wanted space. If I wasn't a student then, it would have been difficult to elude home with the intention of making provision for my career.
My parents used to say that if I got an apartment, I might begin living a wayward lifestyle and I laughed at their thoughts because they were simply looking out for me.

Ever since I began living in my apartment, I don't even remember the last time I misbehaved or even give an account of me being wayward because I chose the lifestyle I wanted to live but so many students in my situation today would make a living mess out of it.

HOW IT AFFECT MY LIFE

image.png

This decision that I made for myself opened my eyes to many possibilities and allowed me to figure myself out more and the ability to relate with the residents around me. The most treasured thing that affected me most was the ability to learn self-control because without it I would have gone into a lifestyle I didn't want to fall into from the point of pressure.

Self control is one of the virtues many people are seeking for with all a lot of effort, if school has given you an experience that taught you self control the. I must say you are very lucky. Please do all you can to maintain it.

Misbehaving is a choice, one thing our parents needs to understand is that if a child wants to spoil he/she will spoil even if they live in a cage for life, Instead what our parents should do is encourage us and keep praying for us.

Beautiful comment!
This is what they don't know honestly and I don't actually blame them at all because they're acting based on parental guidance.
Thanks for this comment you have said it all!!

Smiles.. you are always welcome ma

Am glad school experience as taught you self control please maintain it very well.
Self control is one of the virtues in life

Thanks for your comment, I appreciate your candid reply.

I don't know why parents always try to push their kids into hostels, maybe it's because of the security that comes with staying on campus but I will always prefer stay off-campus because of the space and privacy

Exactly because of the space and privacy!
I believe their parental intuition kicked those moments and they wanted it for your best interest.

I prefer that space than school hostel because it gives one this peace that you are home! In hostel, I might feel not relaxed at all.

You wanted freedom, just like my younger sister she doesn't want to live in the hostel rather she pressured everyone in order to get her dream apartment outside the school.

Self-control is needed for someone especially a lady who lives alone and wants to live upright.

Hostel life is great and awesome!
This depends on how your sister's personality looks like, she mighty want some privacy from school life. Self-control is important because at the time one feels he/she has arrived, one might lose themselves in the world.

I hope she will adopt the act of self-control while enjoying her freedom.

Well staying on your own is one the best decision we can ever make. The privacy alone is second to known, hell i even prefer it to living with parents

That's right!
It gives you the opportunity to create a meaningful life for oneself than covering your real self based on what your parents will view it.

I have seen situation where people are whom they want to be but once they come home they will appear as what their parents wants them to look alike.
