Hello everyone, how are you doing? It’s a pleasure to have you here once again. Without taking much of your time i would like to go straight to the point to tell us the technological changes that has affected me mostly positive in every aspect.
My article today is based on the chosen topic by the hive-learners community weekly featured contents, which is,
TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENT 🧰
Firstly we need to know what technology means. Technology can be referred to as a science or as a knowledge put into practice to solve problems or invent useful tools 🧰
It has really affected me positively in every aspect, especially in the aspect of communication. I can remember vividly around 90s if I want to call abroad I had to travel all the way of about 8 to 10 kilometers in order to make maybe two to three minutes call and calling from Nigeria was so much expensive then...
Nitel was the only means of communication anytime you want to make a call you must travel to another town or state else you are not ready to make a call, it wasn’t easy at all, sometimes leaving your town to another town doesn’t guarantee that you will make your call, you might get there at the end of the day the crowd won’t let you and sometimes they will tell you there’s no service but in today’s world 🌎 technology has made things very easy for us and we must appreciate that fact even though it’s kind expensive for some people to use but we still enjoy every bit of technology presently.
Initially most people uses the post office to send messages across the glob and it takes a lot time to get delivered to the desired destination, so technology has brought us far and has also changed our generation completely.
I can recall clearly in 2001 when the former President Olusegun Obasanjo was in office it was either second or third year of Obasanjo’s first term and he was able to make communication a little easy but very expensive to use and that was when the Global System For Mobile Communication (GSM) was introduced into the Nigerian market, though unaffordable but only few people could afford it and the two network SIM cards that was available then was ECONET WIRELESS and MTN which was very high and unaffordable to a lot of people who wanted to use the GSM as at that time.
Econet Wireless and MTN SIM cards was sold for 20,000 to 25,000 Nigerian Naira, which was extremely expensive for an average Nigerian. My first SIM card was purchased by my elder bro in 2005 at the rate of 7,500 Naira, but now you can get it for just 100 or 200 Nigerian Naira and the first phone i used then was R220 Samsung followed by Sony Ericsson and Sagem lol these phones left the Nigerian market long ago and technology has today provided us with all kinds of information and imparted great knowledge in our lives.
If not for technology you and I would be going to cyber cafe to write our blogs but now I can say that technology has provided us with the best devices to work from home comfortably and nobody visits cyber cafe how we did years back, now you have your laptops 💻 telephones 📱 iPads etc..
Permit me to give more instances of technological advancement and innovations.
One good example of technological advancement and innovation is the INVERTERS, today we use light 💡 in our homes without putting all hopes on the PHCN, the inverters is one the technological advancement that has really solved the problem of electricity in Nigeria 🇳🇬 even though they are highly expensive but have different categories we can afford.
To me, I can say that technology is great and has solved major problems we face in our daily activities and reduces stress and fatigue...
Thanks a lot for your time, have a great day ahead and see you in my next post..
