This life is indeed challenging, therefore, do not let your choices affect your thought process at a future point in time. Let's start by defining what a decision is: As you can see it is an action, with an outcome. Decisions are many choices that one makes in a day without realizing that he or she is making decisions. What this means is that irrespective of the size of the decision that you are making, it will not be completely without consequences.

As we know, in every aspect in life, people are not equal when it comes to their decision making capability. Some individuals are gifted in the capability of evaluating circumstances while other people have the talent in decision-making. Most were in one camp or the other; some people however, can be said to lack proficiency in selection or introduction.

Let me illustrate this with an example. While I quickly make decisions when faced with a problem such as choosing which restaurant to go eat at, I am not quick at making a decision when I am confronted with matters touching on employment. I still lack adequate experience and exposure to be competent in making decisions.

Deciding is easy. It is choosing whether to act based on intuition or go with your heart, to leap, or do what will be safest, or most profitable.

Your brain doesn’t give a hoot about your gut feeling, all it is interested in is your objective. It is important not to confuse the intuition with the need for a positive result. Desire is what you wish to achieve while appetite is how you feel about it. You cannot objectively decide using gut feelings because gut feelings are usually derived from emotions.

Here's the deal: If you get the impression that you must do something that in your heart you do not want to do, then you lack the feeling of decision. It is very annoying to meet such uncertainty especially if the particular person has not taken a certain decision.

Suppose you would like to travel to a particular country. Let's say Ghana. If you have no experience of it, you will never consider it to be cheap. However, when you visit a place, you may have a change of mind and desire to visit that area again. It took you long to decide whether you wanted to go to Ghana or not, and you did not want to decide in the first place.

It is the same with the life decisions. Probably, you’ve never made them and felt the result, so you can’t predict what will be the result, and there’s no way to assess your decision.

So, in order to make the right decision you have to define what you want. That's the true purpose of life: to come to a conclusion. However, irrespective of what choice you want to make next, there is a question that you should always pose: What is to be gained from the decision? Is the action something you want to do for the feelings of satisfaction that comes with doing something?Or because you are interested in the outcome?

And if you want the result when considering your contribution, then the question that must arise is, am I doing this willingly or forced? In your opinion, is this action mandatory for you to serve the intended purpose?
