Future of Remote Work. Co-Working, Co-Living, and Moving to a Different Scenery Every Few Weeks.

in #life3 years ago

During my travel around Mexico the past 2 months, I've met few remote workers and visited a few co-working locations. The name that stuck out the most for me was Selina. Selina is a startup that has co-living, co-working locations all over the world. Even in the beaches of Puerto Escondido, where stable internet connection was hard to find, Selina had it covered.

Area De Trabajo(Work area) at Selina Cafe Puerto Escondido which requires minimum order of 200 Pesos.

I was curious and looked more into what Selina was. They are targeted to remote workers mainly who want to travel and work indefinitely. They offer accommodations (Which is on a pricy side), restaurants/cafes, activities, events, and of course a stable high speed internet connection in over 134 locations.

Although I never stayed at any of their locations due to the price, I've got a glimpse of what the future of remote work looks like and got to talk to people living that life currently. I've got to say, it's definitely a new and exciting way to live and work. They do have a membership starting at $450/month where you get to stay at any of their accommodations, switch locations few times a month, take their yoga classes, and use their facilities. Which sounds like a not a bad deal considering rents for 1 bedroom apartment in the US is going for $1000+ these days.

Dude, that place looks amazing.

Yup. It was a good motivation for me to start working on getting more income streams that I can manage remotely.
